We continue our investigation into humor in the Bible. In this episode we look at Wit, Irony and Sarcasm. We see sarcasm used especially well in the story about the prophet Elijah as he engages in a contest with Baal worshipers on Mt. Carmel. As always, we see that the humor in the Bible serves very serious purposes and we get some important points regarding what God expects from His children when it comes to their allegiance.

Is it disrespectful to think that there are funny things in God's Holy Bible? Rick and Clark explore this question. Since God created everything for a purpose (including humor), we need to find out what purpose humor serves in the Bible. The thing that makes biblical humor interesting to theologians is the fact that it can point us to some very serious lessons and the most important redemptive irony in history.

Our first look at humor in the Bible in Season 2 is a story that is recorded for us in the book of Numbers, Chapter 22. It's a story about a guy who receives some divine intervention from, of all things, a talking donkey. No kidding! Rick and Clark discuss varying possibilities about where Jesus' soul/spirit was during the time he was in the tomb. This is one of those difficult questions that can't be nailed down with a fast, easy, simple answer. What we need to focus on is the real purpose of the three days between his death and resurrection, what that meant to his disciples, and what it means to us today.
