The chief financial officer of The Trump Organization has handed himself in to New York authorities after he was indicted in connection with a tax investigation. State prosecutors have charged The Trump Organization and Allen Weisselberg over tax crimes. It marks the first criminal charge against the former US president's company following a three-year investigation. No charges are expected to be brought againt Donald Trump personally. Frank Ucciardo has this report. We spoke to Michael Zeldin, who's a former US federal prosecutor and host of the podcast 'That Said with Michael Zeldin'. He joins us now from Washington.

Now to the US state of Florida, where rescue workers are still holding out hope that they'll find survivors of the collapse of a beachside high-rise building. Greek police have recovered two paintings stolen from the country's National Gallery almost 10 years ago. One is by Pablo Picasso, who gave the picture to Greece in recognition of the country's suffering under occupation by the Nazis. EU leaders say the entire European economy is expected to recover to pre-pandemic levels by the end of next year. Speaking at the Brussels Economic Forum, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said vaccines have allowed countries to relax social distancing rules. More than 40 percent of the bloc's adults are fully vaccinated. Government stimulus measures also gave economies a boost. Speaking at the same event, German Chancellor Angela Merkel said the E-U needs to invest more in advanced technologies like artificial intelligence and semiconductor manufacturing. She says this will help give the bloc a technological edge in areas where it's lagged behind the likes of the US and Asia. This comes amid a global chip shortage that has forced European car companies to slow production. For more, we spoke to Bruno Verstraete .
