With the peak holiday season upon us, many travellers are having to adjust their plans amid the pandemic. In Singapore, tourism is a 19-billion-dollar a-year industry. But as the government limits non-essential travel, the local tourism industry is looking for creative ways to make money from so-called stay- cationers. Sandy Huang reports.

Millions of Americans returned to work in June, according to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics. That's as states began reopening following months of lockdowns. The US added 4.8 million jobs during the month, far exceeding economists' expectations. It's the second month of gains since more than 20 million jobs were lost in April. Aircraft maker Boeing has started test flights as it tries to get its grounded 737 MAX back in the air. The test flights in the US state of Washington are expected to take place over several days. The aircraft was grounded around the world last year after two crashes, in Indonesia and Ethiopia, that killed everybody on board. Francis Collings reports.

On Tuesday, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson gave his first public speech since the peak of the COVID-19 crisis. He's outlined plans to kick-start the UK economy with a programme of public infrastructure building. He's also promised not to abandon his election promises to correct significant regional differences in the economy. Turkey's plans to become a global player in the railway industry are on track as factory tests on its first domestically produced electric train begin. The five-carriage locomotive with a seating capacity of 324 passengers is expected to cost 20 percent less than similar imported models. The Turkey Wagon Industry Corporation says the next phase of tests on the prototype will take place later this year. The country plans to spend about $17 billion on its railway systems in the next 10 years.

Although India's lockdown has eased up in many places, there's still a lot of fear surrounding COVID-19 - especially as the number s of infections continues to rise. It's affected many businesses across the country, including restaurants.
