Pakistan's troubled economy and rising tensions with neighbouring India over the disputed region of Kashmir are two important issues being discussed during Prime Minister Imran Khan's meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing. China and Pakistan have both criticised India's abrogation of Kashmir's special status. The region is shared between the three countries. Pakistan is also an active participant in Beijing's Belt and Road initiative. China has promised to invest $62 billion in an economic corridor through Pakistan. Thousands of indigenous people have been leading anti-government protests in Ecuador against soaring fuel prices. Protesters have vowed to keep demonstrating until President Lenin Moreno reverses his decision to scrap fuel subsidies. Close to 500 people have been arrested in the worst violence the country has seen in years. But as Philip Owira reports, President Moreno is accusing his opponents of attempting a coup.

In 2015, a hotel in Japan became the first in the world to be almost entirely staffed by robots. Since then, its replaced half of its 250 robots with humans after complaints from customers. Its experiment also failed to reduce costs or the workload of employees. But as Natasha Hussain reports, the hotel chain isn't writing off automation just yet.

Over the past week, fighting between Iraqi security forces and anti-government protesters has killed more than 100 people and injured thousands. That's amid calls for a complete overhaul of the political establishment.
