Their specificity allows them to identify chemicals in the blood, as demonstrated in pregnancy tests by binding to HCG hormones. They can also deliver drugs directly to target cells, offering precise treatment as in cancer therapy by attaching drugs directly to tumours.
While promising, the use of monoclonal antibodies may be limited by potential side effects impacting their widespread adoption.
