MonoRants... The Boys

With the truth out and after returning everyone's memories, Cate lapses into a coma. But she brings Jordan, Marie, Andre and poor poor Dusty into her mind where they get to see the awful hardships Cate has suffered in her life. Emma and Sam reconnect and get serious, while Ciara has some trouble separating Jordan from their actors.

The gang wake up after one hell of a rager, but can't seem to remember anything. But it's not just the booze blackouts, they have days missing. With the blame quickly placed on Rufus; Jordan, Marie and Emma slowly start to realise that someone else much closer to them may be responsible. Meanwhile we get overly excited to meet a superpowered Alpaca.

Sam and Emma have made it out of the woods and start to connect, but the gang have no idea where they are. Before they can find them they'll have to deal with another problem: Tek Knight's on campus looking for lives to ruin and holes to violate. Marie makes an ill advised attempt to find Emma and Mono comes to the realisation that with Teen Drama comes teen romance.

it's the first actual day of lectures and the excitement isn't slowing down for Marie. She's getting the credit for stopping Golden Boy and she's in the top ten. But she finds her newfound fame gets complicated quickly. Meanwhile Jordan struggles with their new ranking, Andre and Cate try to make sense of Luke's suicide and we want to kill Justine for what she does to Emma.

It's finally time to start the new semester at Godolkin University and no-one is more excited than freshman Marie Moreau. After meeting her roomie and stopping a supe on meth, Marie goes clubbing with God U's Top 3 heroes and a good deed nearly gets her expelled. A fiery final act sets up the season and we fall in love with Marie's roommate Emma.

One more unexpected episode before we dive into Gen V. But it's a fascinating one as we got talk about "Supes Ain't Always Heroes: Inside the Complex Characters and Twisted Psychology of The Boys" with Authors Dr. Lynn Zubernis and Dr. Matthew Snyder. Join us for a sneak peek at the book and a discussion about incredibly realistic characters and portrayals, Campbells (both of em) Hero's Journey, the compex case of Daddy Soldier Boy, and which Supe these psychologists would least like to treat.

Thanks to Lynn & Matthew for joining us and helping us dive deeper into the show we all love.

"Supes Ain't Always Heroes" is out on Dec 5th 2023 but is available for Pre-Order now from https://smartpopbooks.com/theboys/

Lynn also has several greats books about Kripke's other massive success "Supernatural" and runs @FangasmSPN on Twitter.

[APOLOGIES FOR THE POOR AUDIO QUALITY IN PARTS. WE HAD AUDIO PROBLEMS RECORDING, BUT DID THE BEST WE COULD TO CLEAN IT UP]

F**k know how we pulled this off lads, but I've pinched myself loads and I'm not dreaming. We are delighted to present: The MonoRants Darick Robertson Ranterview.

We pinned him down to get the behind the scenes info from The Boys comics that everyone wants to know like: the inspiration for Jamie the Hamster, saggy superhero costumes, Simon Pegg's early TV career and the secret origins of Jitterbean's. So join us, and the co-creator of our favourite comic, for a rant about Leatherface Batman, not censoring yourself, the long road to the show, a very well timed kitty and our bastard friend upstaging us with the best question of the interview.

Massive thanks to the man himself for coming on and treating us petulant children like we were real podcasters.

You can find all of Darick's work wherever good comics are sold and on www.darickrobertson.com
