A charity-centric tea has entered the beverage market and has quickly found its footing. Generosi-TEA, started by Stephen Wesley, a former Montrose resident, has sold 30,000 bottles since September. They have 90,000 ready to ship to stores in the Midwest and east coast.

Today we’re remembering Marilynn Huseby, an advocate for seniors and community and thinking of her life of service. Senior advocacy was one of Marilynn Huseby’s most important causes. Well-known and loved throughout Montrose, Huseby left a legacy built on compassion, education and community that was embedded deeply in the heart of the Montrose Pavilion’s Golden Circle Senior Center.

The days of local barley fields growing for Coors Brewing are past — but that doesn’t mean there isn’t opportunity for the one-time cash crop. Proximity Malt already sources barley from fields in San Luis Valley. But now, they’d like to try a pilot program by contracting between 800 — 1,000 acres nearby.

The Montrose High School mascot sub-committee narrowed down the new mascot choice to four options at a December meeting — bulls, raptors, storm and mountain lions. But MHS Principal Jim Barnhill said he had a feeling that he didn’t hear enough from students in the process.
