In the third episode of our mini economic development series, we are joined with Kate Nash, Economic Development Champion and Jelmer Stegink, Program Director for DMZ Innisfil. Kate is a creative economic development professional with over 6 years’ experience in sales, marketing, and business administration. Kate brings together local businesses, community organizations, and ecosystem partners to build a thriving community of entrepreneurship and innovation within Innisfil. Previously, Kate worked as a marketing manager for a tech software startup based in Toronto. Jelmer is the driving force behind DMZ Innisfil and Innisfil's growing technology startup ecosystem. Founding several startups and joining early-stage founders, Jelmer helped them find product-market fit and traction. After 5 years as founder and early startup employee, Jelmer ventured off into the public sector where he discovered his passion for building ecosystems and supporting entrepreneurs

Michelle oversees all land use planning for the municipality which is in a rapid growth phase. She is a Registered Professional Planner with over 25 years of public and private experience, and a big picture thinker and strategic leader with expertise in policy development, project management and community building. Michelle has worked for municipalities across Canada and for the Government of Bermuda, focusing on a wide range of issues such as conservation, intensification, and growth management. Costa began his journey into real estate at just 18 years old, has owned a go-go dancing company, and has even tried to craft his own yoga mats. To stay grounded, Costa practices yoga as a means of centering himself in this chaotic industry.
