It is wild to recognize that I have been speaking for various opportunities for 10+ years now. In this episode, I tell the story of how on earth I ended up in this space and share a few of the lessons I've learned along the way. Specifically for anyone who is interested in launching their own podcast, I include tips at the end of the episode for how to start your own podcast. I am more than happy to share anything I've learned so far and hope to only continue growing in my ability and opportunities to communicate!
The goal for this episode is to encourage any of you listening that dream about using your voice (and life) to encourage others. I am here and happy to cheer you on!
LESSONS LEARNED AS A SPEAKER (LINKS BELOW)
Understand the difference between leading worship (holding the door for others) and being a speaker
Pay attention to and/or ask trusted family, friends, and mentors what gifts and talents they recognize in your life
Step through open doors – be willing to say "yes" to a variety of opportunities
Communicate authentically vs. perfectly (you don't have to publish everything you write or create)
Practice the presence of Jesus – worship well privately before communicating publiclyTIPS FOR LAUNCHING YOUR OWN PODCAST (LINKS BELOW)
Craft a solid idea of what podcast you wish existed/what you want to add to this space
Listen and learn from other podcasts – take notes!
Get you a microphone and pop filter, if you can. If not, use what you have (aka your iPhone and free recording software)
Come up with a name + create a logo for your podcast
If possible, find you a friend who enjoys editing audio and make them your audio producer
