  • 1 Nephi 1:67-157 RAV, 3:9-5:9 OPV

    Nephi and his brothers go back to Jerusalem to obtain the plates of brass.

    1:67 [3:9] And I, Nephi, and my brethren took our journey in the wilderness with our tents, to go up to the land of Jerusalem.

    1:68a [3:10] ¶ And it came to pass that when we had come up to the land of Jerusalem, I and my brethren did consult one with another;

    1:68b [3:11a] And we cast lots who of us should go in unto the house of Laban.

    1:69 [3:11b] And it came to pass that the lot fell upon Laman; and Laman went in unto the house of Laban, and he talked with him as he sat in his house.

    1:70 [3:12] And he desired of Laban the records which were engraven upon the plates of brass, which contained the genealogy of my father.

    1:71 [3:13a] ¶ And behold, it came to pass that Laban was angry and thrust him out from his presence; and he would not that he should have the records.

    1:72 [3:13b] Wherefore, he said unto him: Behold, thou art a robber, and I will slay thee.

    1:73 [3:14a] But Laman fled out of his presence and told the things which Laban had done, unto us.

    1:74 [3:14b] And we began to be exceeding sorrowful, and my brethren were about to return unto my father in the wilderness.

    1:75 [3:15] But behold, I said unto them: That as YHVH liveth, and as we live, we will not go down unto our father in the wilderness until we have accomplished the thing which YHVH hath commanded us.

    1:76 [3:16a] Wherefore, let us be faithful in keeping the commandments of YHVH;

    1:77 [3:16b] Therefore, let us go down to the land of our father's inheritance; for behold, he left gold, and silver, and all manner of riches.

    1:78a [3:16c] And all this he hath done because of the commandments of YHVH;

    1:78b [3:17] For he knowing that Jerusalem must be destroyed because of the wickedness of the people.

  • Book of Remembrance Chapter 3:12-18: Dividing the Waters from the Waters

    In this episode we go over Chapter 3:12-18 of  The Book of Remembrance. Here we talk about the second day of the creation, and what that means to your call and ministry in Jesus Christ.

    From the Book of Remembrance:

    "And again, Elohim spake and said: Let there be a firmament in the midst of the water, and it was so; for behold, Elohim said: Let it divide the waters from the waters; and it was done, for the gods obeyed the Word of Elohim. And they, the gods, said: Let there be an expanse in the midst of the waters, and it shall divide the waters from the waters. And the gods ordered the expanse so that it divided the waters which were under the expanse from the waters which were above the expanse; and it was so, even as they ordered. And Elohim called the firmament Heaven; and the gods followed, calling the expanse Heaven. And it came to pass that it was from evening until morning that was called night by the reckoning of the gods; and it came to pass that it was from morning until evening that they called day; And this was the second time that they called night and day, and thus the evening and the morning were the second day."

  • Book of Remembrance Chapter 3:1-11: Dividing the Light from the Darkness

    In this episode we go over Chapter 3:1-11 of  The Book of Remembrance. Here we talk about the first day of the creation, and what that means to your call and ministry in Jesus Christ.

    From the Book of Remembrance:

    "Then said Elohim unto YHVH and Michael: Yonder is matter unorganized; go ye down and organize it into a world like unto the worlds that we have heretofore formed; call your labors the first day and bring word.  And then mine Only Begotten said unto Michael and the gods and angels: Let us go down.  And they went down at the beginning; and they, that is the gods, organized and formed the heavens and the earth, thus creating their second estate that they might prove themselves. And Elohim said to the gods: Let there be light; and they, the gods, said: Let there be light; and there was light. And behold, Elohim, saw the light; and that light was good. And they, the gods, comprehended the light, for it was bright; and they, by the command of Elohim, divided the light, or caused it to be divided, from the darkness. And Elohim called the light Day and the darkness he called Night; and this was done by the Word of their power; and it was done even as Elohim spake. And thus the gods too called the light Day and the darkness they called Night. And it came to pass that from the evening until morning we called night and from the morning until the evening called we day; and this was the first, or the beginning, of that which was called day and night, not by the reckoning of time as to man, but by the order or direction of Elohim and by the counsel of the gods. And the evening and the morning were the first day." 3:1-11

  • Book of Remembrance Chapter 2: Before the Creation

    In this episode we go over Chapter 2 of  The Book of Remembrance. Here we talk about the pre-mortal world, the creation, and what that means to your call and ministry in Jesus Christ.

    From The Creation:

    "As a teenage boy, one night I sat in my room conversing with the voice of the Lord; I was asking Him questions and He was giving me answers. My vision of the creation came this night when I was in bed, pondering the mysteries of the universe. I had been praying and was filled with the spirit. I was pondering the theory of evolution and the creation story, as told by my religious relatives and as I had learned of it at church (the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints). As a teenager in high school, this seemed very important to me; the Lord had already shown me a few visions that evening and I was fearful of the answer I would receive."

    From the Book of Remembrance:

    "In the beginning was the counsel, even a counsel of the gods, and YHVH, the Lord Jesus  Christ premortal, was God, and chief or head of the gods; the same was in the beginning with Elohim and is the Only Begotten."

  • Book of Remembrance Chapter 1: Introduction

    In this episode we go over Chapter 1 of  The Book of Remembrance. Here we talk about the beginnings of your call and ministry in Jesus Christ.

    From the Preface:

    "With the exception of the first three chapters, the Book of Remembrance is a series of revelations David Ferriman, First Elder of the Church of Jesus Christ in Christian Fellowship received in January of 2016. After receiving the revelations, he felt inspired only to share a portion of what he was given with the world. However, in the summer of 2018 he felt moved by the Holy Spirit to share the revelation in full..."

    From the Book of Remembrance:

    "The Lord has commanded me saying: Behold, I say into thee, my servant David: Write ye the words of the Lord. Keep my words in a Book of Remembrance that shall stand as a testimony at the last day; that ye are my covenanted servant, and that I have called and sanctified thee to speak for me in these, the last days; not to declare a new Gospel, for behold the trump of the angel has sounded, and the Everlasting Gospel has been sent unto them that dwell on the earth, and shall go forth to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people: yea, even the Book of Mormon, to bear witness of me and my Word, that I am the Lord thy God, and I am the same yesterday, today, and forever." -1:3-7

  • 1 Nephi 1:59-66 RAV, 3:1-8 OPV

    Nephi is instructed by Lehi to go back to Jerusalem for the plates of brass.

    1:59 [3:1] ¶ And it came to pass that I, Nephi, returned from speaking with YHVH(1), to the tent of my father.

    1:60 [3:2] And it came to pass that he spake unto me, saying: Behold, I have dreamed a dream, in the which YHVH hath commanded me that thou and thy brethren shall return to Jerusalem.

    1:61 [3:3] For behold, Laban hath the record of the Jews and also a genealogy of thy forefathers, and they are engraven upon plates of brass.

    1:62 [3:4] Wherefore, YHVH hath commanded me that thou and thy brothers should go unto the house of Laban, and seek the records, and bring them down hither into the wilderness.

    1:63 [3:5] And now, behold, thy brothers murmur, saying it is a hard thing which I have required of them; but behold, I have not required it of them; but it is a commandment of YHVH.

    1:64 [3:6] Therefore, go, my son, and thou shalt be favored of YHVH because thou hast not murmured.

    1:65a [3:7a] ¶ And it came to pass that I, Nephi, said unto my father, I will go and do the things which YHVH hath commanded;

    1:65b [3:7b] For I know that YHVH giveth no commandments unto the children of men, save He shall prepare a way for them that they may accomplish the thing which He commandeth them.

    1:66 [3:8] ¶ And it came to pass that when my father had heard these words, he was exceeding glad, for he knew that I had been blessed of YHVH.

  • Love Thy Neighbors

    The following is based on a portion of a transcript from a sermon from November 21, 2015.

    In the Torah, in Leviticus 19:18, the Lord says, “Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself: I am the Lord” (Holy Bible, KJV).

    Further down, in verses 33-34 we read:

    And if a stranger sojourn with thee in your land, ye shall not vex him. But the stranger that dwelleth with you shall be unto you as one born among you, and thou shalt love him as thyself; for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the Lord your God.

    Let’s tie this together. In verse 18 we’re commanded to love our neighbors, the people we know. In verses 33-34 it extends to anyone coming into the land. This is important, because this is the Law. When refugees come we don’t say, “let’s see what they can do for us, let’s see what skills they have.”

    Jesus taught us in Matthew 5:43-48:

    Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbor, and hate thine enemy. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; that ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same? And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so? Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

    In the Book of Mormon, Christ teaches the same doctrine to the Lehites.

    And behold it is written also, that thou shalt love thy neighbor and hate thine enemy; but behold I say unto you, love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them who despitefully use you and persecute you; that ye may be the children of your Father who is in heaven; for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good. Therefore those things which were of old time, which were under the law, in me are all fulfilled. Old things are done away, and all things have become new. Therefore I would that ye should be perfect even as I, or your Father who is in heaven is perfect. -3 Nephi 4:70-73 RAV, 12:43-48 OPV.

    This is the great work we show after we’ve been born again. We too love our neighbors, just a Christ set the perfect example for us to do. It’s that compassion for our fellow beings. We see that we were in a fallen state, that Jesus Christ descended below it all, and suffered for us. He died for us. And, all he asks us to do in return is love him. To accept him. To come to him with a broken heart and contrite spirit. And by doing this, the Holy Spirit moves us. We grow in Grace and become Christlike, loving our neighbors. Not turning them away, but helping them in any way we can.

  • 1 Nephi 1:47-59 RAV, 2:16-3:1 OPV

    Nephi goes to the Lord for his own testimony, shares what he learned with his brothers, goes back the Lord, gains more light and knowledge, and returns to his father, Lehi.

    1:47 [2:16a] ¶ And it came to pass that I, Nephi, being exceeding young, nevertheless, being large in stature, and also having great desires to know of the mysteries of Elohim1,

    1:48 [2:16b] Wherefore, I did cry unto YHVH2; and behold, He did visit me and did soften my heart, that I did believe all the words which had been spoken by my father; wherefore, I did not rebel against him like unto my brothers.

    1:49 [2:17a] And I spake unto Sam, making known unto him the things which YHVH2 had manifested unto me by His Holy Spirit.

    1:50 [2:17b] ¶ And it came to pass that he believed in my words;

    1:51 [2:18a] But behold, Laman and Lemuel would not hearken unto my words;

    1:52 [2:18b] And being grieved because of the hardness of their hearts, I cried unto YHVH2 for them.

    1:53 [2:19] ¶ And it came to pass that YHVH2 spake unto me, saying: Blessed art thou, Nephi, because of thy faith; for thou hast sought me diligently with lowliness of heart.

    1:54 [2:20] And inasmuch as ye shall keep my commandments, ye shall prosper and shall be led to a land of promise, yea, even a land which I have prepared for you, yea, a land which is choice above all other lands.

    1:55 [2:21] And inasmuch as thy brethren shall rebel against thee, they shall be cut off from the presence of YHVH2.

    1:56 [2:22] And inasmuch as thou shalt keep my commandments, thou shalt be made a ruler and a teacher over thy brethren.

    1:57 [2:23] For behold, in that day that they shall rebel against me, I will curse them even with a sore curse; and they shall have no power over thy seed, except they shall rebel against me also.

    1:58 [2:24] And if it so be that they rebel against me, they shall be a scourge unto thy seed, to stir them up in the ways of remembrance.

    [OPV Chapter 3]

    1:59 [3:1] ¶ And it came to pass that I, Nephi, returned from speaking with YHVH2, to the tent of my father.

  • 1 Nephi 1:33-46 RAV, 2:6-15 OPV

    Lehi and Nephi face doubt in Laman and Lemuel, but Lehi rebukes doubt with power from God.

    1:33 [2:6] ¶ And it came to pass that when he had traveled three days in the wilderness, he pitched his tent in a valley by the side of a river of water.

    1:34 [2:7] And it came to pass that he built an altar of stones, and he made an offering unto YHVH(1) and gave thanks unto YHVH, our Elohim(2).

    1:35 [2:8] And it came to pass that he called the name of the river Laman, and it emptied into the Red Sea; and the valley was in the borders near the mouth thereof.

    1:36 [2:9] ¶ And when my father saw that the waters of the river emptied into the fountain of the Red Sea, he spake unto Laman, saying, O, that thou mightest be like unto this river, continually running into the fountain of all righteousness.

    1:37 [2:10] And he also spake unto Lemuel: O, that thou mightest be like unto this valley-firm, and steadfast, and immovable in keeping the commandments of YHVH2.

    1:38a [2:11a] Now this he spake because of the stiff-neckedness of Laman and Lemuel;

    1:38 [2:11b] For behold, they did murmur in many things against their father because he was a visionary man and had led them out of the land of Jerusalem, to leave the land of their inheritance, and their gold, and their silver, and their precious things, to perish in the wilderness.

    1:39b [2:11c] And this they said he had done because of the foolish imaginations of his heart.

    1:40 [2:12a] And thus Laman and Lemuel, being the eldest, did murmur against their father.

    1:41 [2:12b] And they did murmur because they knew not the dealings of that Elohim who had created them.

    1:42 [2:13a] Neither did they believe that Jerusalem, that great city, could be destroyed according to the words of the prophets.

    1:43 [2:13b] And they were like unto the Jews, who were at Jerusalem, who sought to take away the life of my father.

    1:44 [2:14a] ¶ And it came to pass that my father did speak unto them in the valley of Lemuel, with power, being filled with the Spirit, until their frames did shake before him.

    1:45 [2:14b] And he did confound them, that they durst not utter against him; wherefore, they did as he commanded them.

    1:46 [2:15] And my father dwelt in a tent.

    Nephi tells us of his father, Lehi giving up their family's worldly goods traveling into the wilderness, taking only the things they will truly need.

    1:23 [1:20c] But behold, I, Nephi, will show unto you that the tender mercies of YHVH(1) are over all those whom he hath chosen, because of their faith, to make them mighty even unto the power of deliverance.

    [OPV Chapter 2]

    1:24 [2:1a] ¶ For behold, it came to pass that YHVH (1) spake unto my father, yea, even in a dream, and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Lehi, because of the things which thou hast done;

    1:25 [2:1b] And because thou hast been faithful and declared unto this people the things which I commanded thee, behold, they seek to take away thy life.

    1:26 [2:2] ¶ And it came to pass that YHVH (1) gave unto to my father teshuvah, even in a dream, that he should take his family and depart into the wilderness.

    1:27 [2:3] And it came to pass that he was obedient unto the word of YHVH (1); wherefore, he did as YHVH commanded him.

    1:28 [2:4a] ¶ And it came to pass that he departed into the wilderness.

    1:29 [2:4b] And he left

    • his house,
    • and the land of his inheritance,
    • and his gold,
    • and his silver,
    • and his precious things,

    and took nothing with him, save it were

    • his family,
    • and provisions,
    • and tents;

    and he departed into the wilderness;

    1:30 [2:5a] And he came down by the borders near the shore of the Red Sea;

    1:31 [2:5b] And he traveled in the wilderness in the borders which were nearer the Red Sea;

    1:32 [2:5c] And he did travel in the wilderness with his family, which consisted of my mother Sariah, and my elder brothers, who were Laman, Lemuel, and Sam.
