When we study the Word of God which includes the written word of God and the spoken word of God we ought to seek out 3 things:

PROMISES: What God has said and confirmed that he would do

PRINCIPLES: The value system and the modus-operandi through which our lives, nature, and character are conformed and by which we live by

PROPHECIES: This gives us a glimpse of God's plans, purposes, and intentions for our lives in the future including what we would experience. Jer 29:11

QUOTE: "If you are not growing; you are dying without knowing"

Physical food, nutrients, and water are essential for a man's physical growth. 1Peter 2:2

This is also a similitude to Spiritual growth where we grow essentially through the milk and meat of the word of God in addition to Prayer

We have to be intentional about growing spiritually and renewing our minds so our spiritual life will not be stagnant

We read the Old Testament from the lens of Christ's death, burial, and resurrection to properly interpret the scriptures.
