Sometimes you don't have to tell people what's going on inside you. Just give it a little time—your walk will tell on you.

Ecclesiastes 10 gives us a vivid picture of a fool whose everyday life reveals what's happening in his heart. But before we start thinking about everybody else who needs to hear this one, Solomon isn't giving us binoculars.

He's giving us a mirror.

Because what fills our hearts eventually shows up in our words, reactions, attitudes, and the way we treat people—especially in the ordinary moments when we're tired, frustrated, interrupted, or inconvenienced.

Today's Salty Thought:
Your walk eventually tells on your heart.

Today's Step:
Pay attention to one ordinary reaction today. When something doesn't go your way, pause and ask:

“Lord, what did that just reveal in me?”

Don't condemn yourself. Just notice it—and give God permission to work on what He shows you.

There are some verses in the Bible that make you stop and say, “Wait…did Scripture really just say that?” Job 11:12 is definitely one of them. Apparently, the Bible has a wild-donkey verse.

But underneath the unforgettable imagery is an important reminder: wisdom doesn’t automatically come with age, experience, or confidence. Sometimes one of the biggest obstacles to becoming wise is assuming we already are.

Today, we’re talking about the humility it takes to admit that maybe we don’t see the whole picture—and learning to ask God to show us what we’re missing.

Today’s Step:Before making a decision or offering your opinion today, pause and pray one simple prayer:

“Lord, show me what I’m not seeing.”

You don’t have to know everything today. Stay humble enough to let God teach you.

Isaiah 30:21 gives us something better than a complete map: the picture of God faithfully directing His people—“This is the way. Walk in it.”

You don't need the whole map when you trust the One giving directions.

Today's Step:

Identify one area where you've been trying to figure out the entire route. Instead, pray: “Father, what is the next faithful thing in front of me?” Seek His wisdom through Scripture, prayer, and godly counsel—and take the next faithful step.

“I’ve got it.”

Sometimes we really do. Other times, those words keep us carrying something alone that God never intended us to carry by ourselves.

Ecclesiastes 4:9–10 reminds us that two are better than one—and when one falls, another can help them up. In today’s Morning Salt, we’re talking about the humility of receiving help and the gift of being the person who helps someone else stand again.

Today’s Salty Thought:

Strength isn’t proving you don’t need anybody. Sometimes it’s knowing who to call when you do.

Today’s Step:

Identify one thing you’ve been carrying mostly alone and one trustworthy person you can share it with. Ask for prayer, conversation, or help. And if you’re doing well today, look for someone whose burden you can help carry.

Apparently Pastor Adam has a “burn pile” at his house—although he’s pretty sure it’s actually just a Solo Bonfire and a suspicious collection of Amazon boxes saved by Marcia and his mom.

But Proverbs 26:20 turns that ordinary picture into some pretty direct wisdom: “Without wood, fire goes out; without a gossip, conflict dies down.”

Sometimes the question isn’t, “Who started the fire?”

Maybe the better question is: Am I adding to the burn pile?

You can’t ask God to put out a fire while you’re still bringing it fuel.

Today’s Step:

Before repeating something today, ask: “Will saying this help bring healing, or am I just adding fuel?” If it’s only feeding gossip, drama, or unnecessary conflict, let it stop with you.

What do you do when everything you can see tells you there’s no way through?

In 2 Kings 6, Elisha’s servant wakes to discover an enemy army surrounding the city. But when God opens his eyes, he discovers something was already present that he simply couldn’t see.

This story has become especially meaningful to Pastor Adam and is the inspiration for an upcoming book in his Songs of Deliverance series, releasing early next year.

In today’s Morning Salt, we’re talking about the danger of assuming our visible circumstances are the whole story—and learning to trust God’s presence even when we can’t yet see what He’s doing.

Don’t let what you can see make you forget the God you can’t.

Today’s Step:

Bring one situation that’s causing you anxiety to God and pray Elisha’s prayer: “Lord, open my eyes.” Ask Him to help you recognize His presence, truth, work, and grace in the middle of what you’re facing.

What happens after you fall?

Proverbs 24:16 gives us a surprising picture: the righteous person isn’t someone who never gets knocked down. The righteous person rises again.

In today’s Morning Salt, we’re talking about the difference between faithfulness and perfection—and why a failure, setback, or bad day doesn’t have to become the final chapter of your story.

Falling may be part of your story. Staying down doesn’t have to be.

Today’s Step:

Identify one area where a setback has tempted you to give up. Ask, “What does getting back up look like from here?” Don’t fix everything at once. Take one faithful next step with God’s help.

We spend a lot of time thinking about the songs we sing to God—but Zephaniah gives us a remarkable picture of God rejoicing over His people with singing.

After a week surrounded by worship at the Experience Worship Conference in Orlando, Pastor Adam reflects on Zephaniah 3:17 and what it means to live from God’s love rather than constantly trying to earn His approval.

You don’t have to audition for a love that’s already singing over you.

Today’s Step:

Read Zephaniah 3:17 slowly today. Pause over each description of God: He is with you, He saves, He rejoices, He loves, and He sings. Then pray, “Father, help me live today as someone who is loved by You.”

Have you ever found yourself in the middle of an argument wondering, “How did we even get here?”

Proverbs 17:14 compares starting a conflict to releasing a flood. Growing up on the farm, Pastor Adam learned firsthand what happens when the water filling the horses’ trough doesn’t get turned off in time—the mess is much harder to clean up than it would have been to simply stop the water.

The same can be true of conflict. In today’s Morning Salt, we’re talking about the difference between necessary conversations and unnecessary arguments, and why sometimes walking away requires more strength than continuing to fight.

You don’t have to attend every argument you’re invited to.

Today’s Step:

When a disagreement begins gaining momentum, pause and ask, “Will what I’m about to say move us toward understanding—or am I just adding more water to the flood?” If it’s only adding water, turn it off.

Does the fact that everybody is doing something make it right?

In Exodus 23:2, God gives His people a direct warning: “You must not follow a crowd in wrongdoing.” In context, the command concerns justice and refusing to side with a crowd in ways that distort what is right.

In today’s Morning Salt, we’re talking about the subtle ways popularity can become our compass—and why followers of Jesus have to ask something better than, “What is everybody else doing?”

A crowd can confirm your direction and still be headed the wrong way.
