We spend a lot of time thinking about the songs we sing to God—but Zephaniah gives us a remarkable picture of God rejoicing over His people with singing.

After a week surrounded by worship at the Experience Worship Conference in Orlando, Pastor Adam reflects on Zephaniah 3:17 and what it means to live from God’s love rather than constantly trying to earn His approval.

Read Zephaniah 3:17 slowly today. Pause over each description of God: He is with you, He saves, He rejoices, He loves, and He sings. Then pray, “Father, help me live today as someone who is loved by You.”

Have you ever found yourself in the middle of an argument wondering, “How did we even get here?”

Proverbs 17:14 compares starting a conflict to releasing a flood. Growing up on the farm, Pastor Adam learned firsthand what happens when the water filling the horses’ trough doesn’t get turned off in time—the mess is much harder to clean up than it would have been to simply stop the water.

The same can be true of conflict. In today’s Morning Salt, we’re talking about the difference between necessary conversations and unnecessary arguments, and why sometimes walking away requires more strength than continuing to fight.

You don’t have to attend every argument you’re invited to.

Today’s Step:

When a disagreement begins gaining momentum, pause and ask, “Will what I’m about to say move us toward understanding—or am I just adding more water to the flood?” If it’s only adding water, turn it off.

Does the fact that everybody is doing something make it right?

In Exodus 23:2, God gives His people a direct warning: “You must not follow a crowd in wrongdoing.” In context, the command concerns justice and refusing to side with a crowd in ways that distort what is right.

In today’s Morning Salt, we’re talking about the subtle ways popularity can become our compass—and why followers of Jesus have to ask something better than, “What is everybody else doing?”

A crowd can confirm your direction and still be headed the wrong way.

Notice one area where you’re tempted to justify something by saying, “Everybody does it.” Instead, ask, “Does this honor Jesus?” Let that answer determine your direction.

Did you know Proverbs warns against loudly blessing your neighbor too early in the morning? Apparently even a blessing can feel like a curse when the timing is wrong!

Proverbs 27:14 gives us a surprisingly practical reminder that good intentions aren’t always enough. Wisdom pays attention not only to what we say, but also to when and how we say it.

Wisdom isn’t just knowing what to say. It’s knowing when to say it.

Before an important conversation today, ask: “Does this need to be said? Am I the right person to say it? Is this the right time?” If the answer is yes, speak with grace. If not, wisdom may be telling you to wait.

Happy Labor Day! While many of us are taking a break from work today, it’s a good opportunity to think about why—and for whom—we work.

Colossians 3:23 tells us to do whatever we do from the heart, as something done for the Lord rather than for people. In today’s Morning Salt, we’re talking about how even ordinary, unnoticed responsibilities can become acts of worship when they’re offered to Jesus.

Think ahead to one ordinary responsibility waiting for you tomorrow. Before you begin it, pause and pray, “Jesus, I’m doing this for You.” Then approach it as an offering rather than merely another task.

What do you do when God doesn’t give you the explanation you’ve been asking for?

In the tiny three-verse Psalm 131, David describes his soul as a weaned child resting with its mother. It’s a beautiful picture of a faith that has learned to rest in God’s presence without demanding that every question be answered first.

As we wrap up the week, we’re talking about what it means to quiet our souls and trust who God is—even when we don’t understand what He’s doing.

Naaman came to the prophet Elisha expecting something dramatic. Instead, he received a surprisingly simple instruction: wash in the Jordan River seven times. The answer seemed so ordinary that he almost walked away from what God wanted to do.

Choose one area—your time, money, attention, or energy—and ask: “Where is this going?” Then ask, “Does where this is going reflect what I say matters most?” Identify one leak and begin there.

Have you ever spent hours replaying something that took another person only a few seconds to say? Sometimes we pick up an offense without even knowing whether the other person intended to give us one.

Proverbs 19:11 says there is virtue in overlooking an offense. In today’s Morning Salt, we're talking about the wisdom of knowing what needs to be addressed—and what simply needs to be released.

Just because somebody throws an offense your way doesn’t mean you have to catch it.

Identify one small offense you've been replaying. Ask, “Does this really deserve this much of my heart?” If it doesn't require a necessary conversation, choose grace, stop rehearsing it, and let it go.

Have you ever caught yourself thinking, “Things just aren’t like they used to be”? Nostalgia has a way of remembering the best parts of yesterday while quietly editing out the difficult ones.

Ecclesiastes 7:10 warns us against constantly asking why former days were better. In today’s Morning Salt, we’re talking about the difference between remembering God’s faithfulness and becoming so attached to the past that we miss His goodness in the present.
