In this episode, I sit down with my triplet brother, Ian, for a conversation we recorded back in early February. We begin this episode by talking about some of our favorite memories together, and then shift into a conversation about abundance and scarcity.
We explore how these perspectives impact the way we see our current lives, our time, resources, and opportunities. I hope something in this conversation resonates with you.

In this episode of Morning with Madi, I sit down with Troy Farkas—an author, public speaker, and podcaster who has been sharing meaningful stories about the people, businesses, and newsmakers of the Seacoast through his podcast, Seacoast Stories. In our conversation, we talk about how Seacoast Stories came to be, what fuels Troy’s creativity, and what’s next for his podcasting journey. In the time I’ve known Troy, I’ve noticed his incredible ability to make others feel welcome—he truly knows how to build community, and his work reflects that. We also discuss his experience with type 1 diabetes and reflect on his 20s, a topic he explores in his book, Surrender: A Guide to Living Your Best Life in Your Twenties.

Hi everyone. I am very excited for you all to meet Charlie Graffius. Charlie and I met when we were both in undergrad via a class at Colby-Sawyer College. We reconnected when I discovered his podcast, the Movement Fluidity Podcast. The Movement Fluidity Podcast aims to share stories and research related to movement disorders, with a focus on cerebral palsy. The podcast serves as a platform to inspire and educate others.
In our conversation, Charlie shares about his experiences with cerebral palsy. He also shares his motivations to positively impact others through work and research in kinesiology, exercise science, and movement disorders. He is currently pursuing graduate studies in Motor Learning and Motor Control at Teachers College, Columbia University.
Takeaways
- Cerebral palsy is a neurological condition that affects movement and posture. It is caused by a lack of oxygen to the developing brain, resulting in impaired motor function.
- At the Center for Cerebral Palsy Research, Charlie assisted individuals in improving strength, posture, and motor skills through research and intervention, along with hand-arm bimanual training (HABIT).
- Fascia is a connective tissue that surrounds muscles, organs, and other structures in the body. There is discussion that the fascial system stores emotional experiences and traumas which can produce tension and pain.

Morning with Madi:
Today on the show, we have my friend Danielle! In our conversation, Danielle tells us a little bit about herself, her priorities, and creative outlets. Danielle shares about her interests in journalism, writing, and radio. We all can learn from her self-care practices.
Summary
In this conversation, join me in reflecting on the concept of courage. The Oxford Dictionary defines courage as "the ability to do something that frightens someone." The second definition it provides is "strength in the face of pain or grief." Merriam-Webster defines courage as a "mental or moral strength to venture, persevere, and withstand danger, fear, or difficulty."
I would like to emphasize the importance of recognizing everyday acts of courage. I reflect on the relationship between fear and courage and share my own experiences of feeling insecure and shrinking myself. By understanding the concept of our “Shadows,” we can learn to accept and love all parts of ourselves which can help us overcome fear. I share the story of Mary, which taught me the importance of authenticity and being the friend others need. I conclude by discussing the practice of courage and the impact of curiosity and gratitude in daily life.
