Casey Stevens definitely has a heart for children - born and unborn. Casey and Tim talk about ways his family and Morrison Heights have taken a stand for the sanctity of all human life from praying for the lives of the unborn to assisting families seeking adoption.

While it may have been fall break for our college students this week, they definitely did not slow down! Instead, they spent time serving in New Orleans assisting Tim Rowan with hurricane relief. Cortney Earnest, one of our College Ministry Residents, shares an update on the trip, as well as giving us a peek into what she is learning in the residency program along with her future plans.

We rejoice in the work the Lord is doing through Scott Fortenberry as he transitions from serving at Morrison Heights into serving as full-time pastor of Soul City Church in Midtown Jackson. Exciting things are happening as various ministries get launched at Soul City - teaching women’s Bible studies, ministering to youth/college, and reaching children in the neighborhood. Scott encourages us that we all have a task to share the story Christ implanted in us as we proclaim the Gospel. Let us not forget to pray for Scott and his family as they walk this journey to which they have been called.

We are excited to congratulate our very own Dr. Cynthia Senior who just recently earned her PH.D in Healthcare Administration! Cynthia and her family became a part of Morrison Heights several years ago after moving to Clinton and looking for a church home that would preach truth and have a place for their daughters to grow in their faith. They enjoy serving with our various mission projects as well as building relationships in their Life Group. Cynthia encourages us today with a reminder that Life Groups are an important lifeline of our church, and that no matter what we are walking through, we must always remember to seek Him.

We are excited to welcome Sydney Ruth to our staff as the new Preschool Assistant and Childcare Coordinator. Not only does she love working with children, she also loves missions, medieval literature and of course her new husband Avery! Be sure to stop by and introduce yourself!

Our students love fall retreat, and this past weekend did not disappoint! From zip lining to paintball and all the fun stuff in between, students connected not only with each other, but most importantly with Christ as they learned what it means to be together. Chris Cunningham shares how lives were changed, what’s next for the student ministry, and of course a little bit about football.

Hurricane Ida devastated south Louisiana over the weekend. Morrison Heights’ response is guided by passion, experience, and the love of Christ. Associate Pastor of Missions, Tim Rowan gave us a timely update on the disaster relief plans, including ways everyone of us can get involved.

Our College Ministry has been hard at work these past two weeks engaging students across multiple campuses as they return to school. It is an exciting time to see our students loving on so many and letting them know they have a place to grow and be loved at Morrison Heights. Thomas Gray, the Associate College Minister, stops by to share an update on all the happenings from welcome week, to midweek worship kick off, to leader training. What a joy to see students energized by doing ministry and living out a life of purpose for Christ.

Today marks our 100th episode of the Morrison Heights Family Connect podcast! What a joy it has been to build relationships and learn more about members of our church, community, and staff. We couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate than celebrating what God is doing through some of our missionaries at home and abroad.

Mississippi College’s Director of Church and Minister Relations, our very own Evan Lenow, drops by to discuss his new book and upcoming workshop, Ethics As Worship. As believers, it is important that we strive to understand and apply the Bible biblically and thoughtfully. Evan points out that every aspect of our life is an expression of worship and should point others to Christ. Our actions and behaviors are more than simply doing the right thing, but also to be who God created us to be and bring glory to Him. We hope you will join us as we kick off this brand new workshop and learn to make every day, real life application of what the Scriptures teach us.
