This episode is definitely one to get excited about as it will give you and anyone you know a wonderful opportunity to quite literally make history! This week's fascinating episode will be part of the 'Ask the Expert' series and features a wonderful interview with Zoe Viney. Zoe is a film curator working at the Wessex Film and Sound Archive. Their current project - 'Making History, Making Movies' is looking for any amateur film makers to record 5 minutes of their lives to document what life is like during 2020 and 2021. It is no exaggeration to say that your 5 minute film could be a historical resource of the future and people of all backgrounds, cultures and ages from around Hampshire are welcome to submit a video to this link:
https://hampshirearchivesandlocalstudies.wordpress.com/2020/06/08/making-history-making-movies/. It would be amazing to see as many people as possible get involved and, let's be honest, almost everyone has a camera in their pocket nowadays! This latest episode will give you more information and a fascinating insight into the work of the archive to better understand the purpose and challenges of keeping these invaluable records of the past and to find out more about how you can get involved!
Zoe also tells us all about the challenges of different groups such as female filmmakers and the BAME community underrepresented in the archive and how hard work is being done to change this for the future. Huge thanks to Zoe for her time and her fascinating interview. This episode was recorded via Google Meet during Covid 19.
