Revelation is one of the most discussed and most misunderstood books in the whole Bible. While the pastors at Grace don’t have all the answers for you, I think you’ll benefit from listening to this podcast and being shown some of the glory of this unique book of Scripture. Through its sights and symbols and visions, God reveals to John and to us one glorious and simple truth! JESUS WINS!! So read this glorious book and enjoy this only slightly less glorious discussion of the book of Revelation!
Hebrews is a marvelous book in the new Testament, a beautiful sermon on the intent and purpose of the Old Testament ceremonial code. God commanded what worship should look like in the Old Testament and with good reason. Everything pointed forward to Jesus. Now faced with the temptation to revert back to the Old Testament style of worship, the writer of this beautiful book warns of the danger of backsliding. Jesus is better than Moses, than the High Priest, than the Sabbath Day. His blood paid the full price of our sins. His sacrifice was sufficient!! Don’t slide away from Jesus! He’s the best and the only Savior!!
The Church Is For All People.
Jesus helps us to see that his love is for all and encourages his people to reach out to those of all nationalities, cultures and backgrounds.
Prayer:
Almighty and merciful God, it is only by your gift of grace that we come into your presences and offer true and faithful service. Grant that our worship on earth may always be pleasing to you, and in the life to come give us the fulfillment of what you have promised; through Jesus Christ, your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
As Paul sees the end of his life approaching, he makes his final preparations and gives his final encouragements to his son in the faith and partner in the gospel - Timothy. His confidence, hope and joy are inspiring in their own regard, and especially so when considering that he wrote these words and held this hope even from his dungeon jail cell! We can take his words and be encouraged to praise God, in any and every situation!
Christians live by faith, overcoming doubt.
Full of bravado, Peter accepted Jesus' invitation to walk on the water of the Sea of Galilee. His faith was not strong enough to overcome his doubts, however, and he began to sink. As he did for Peter, Jesus strengthens our faith and leads us to overcome our doubts with his power and promises.
Prayer:
Almighty and most merciful God, preserve us from all harm and danger that we, being ready in both body and soul, may cheerfully accomplish what you want done; through Jesus Christ, your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
The Apostle John writes his letters to encourage his listeners toward truth and love! Both are absolutely necessary in the life and mission of a Christian! Read these short letters and join in to learn even more as Pastors Hackmann and Huebner discuss these New Testament gems!
Christians live by faith, trusting God to provide
Jesus cares for our physical needs just as he cares for our spiritual needs. He does this, however, in ways we don’t expect and can’t always understand. Just as he fed more than 5,000 people with five loaves of bread and two fish, so he takes care of us in normal and supernatural ways.
Prayer:
God, our gracious Father, has forgiven all your sins. He sent his only Son, Jesus Christ, to be our Savior. Jesus paid the penalty for your guilt by his death on the cross and freed you from death by his resurrection from the grave. You are at peace with God. Live in the comfort and joy of his forgiveness.
What a gift to God's Church and to Christians this book of Romans is! Paul's letter to the churches that were gathering in several houses in the city of Rome has become a jewel in al of Scripture for the encouragement and edifying of all believers. His Bible Information Class for those believers and us guides us all through sin, grace, election, Christian living, godly service, vocational living and church fellowship. You would do well to spend a lot of time in this amazing book. And you'd also do well (in my opinion) to listen to this podcast!! Enjoy listening to the 3 pastors at Grace discuss Paul's letter to the Romans.
Christians live by faith, valuing spiritual wealth.
Christians must assess what has passing value and what has eternal value and then strive with diligence to secure treasures that will last. We pray that Jesus gives us wisdom to choose what is good and put aside what is not.
Prayer:
O God, you reveal your mighty power chiefly in showing mercy and kindness. Grant us the full measure of your grace that we may obtain your promises and become partakers of your heavenly glory; through Jesus Christ, your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.
Amen.
