very sentimental

i used to be a goosebumps/animorphs/strange matter nut when i was in elementary school. i hadn't read any strange matter books in about 5 years. i even forget i had them until i found them all:#1-30 and 4 strange forces books while i was searching through my attic for something. i just started reading the series again and i must say, even though im almost 15, these books are still REALLY COOL!

GREAT AND COOL!!!!!!!!

Deadly Delivery was great! This is the second best Strange Matter book I have ever read. Frozen Dinners was number one. I loved every part in this book! Espicially the part where the ghost was trying to figure out what to hit the babysitter with. If he was going to use the ax or the sword or the hammer! That part was cool and exciting! Not the best Strange Matter book

Deadly Delivery sounds good at the beginning, but it gets more boring as it gets on. Then, at the way end, it suddenly takes a turn and becomes sort of exciting. Johnny Barnes is a better author than Marty Engle.

DOTING GRANDMOTHER OF TWELVE

My ten-year-old granddaughter just loves the Callahan Cousins series. I gave her the first book and, at her request, rushed her the second. The third is now in her eager little hands. Her mother (very knowledgeable about books for girls) loves the series, too. It's great to find such enjoyable, well-written fare for the little ones.

A page-turner any young girl can relate to

The Callahan cousins' summer with Grandmother Gee continues in this third book of the series, which is Kate's story. It opens with Kate, an ardent cook, recording notes on housekeeper Sheila's excellent recipes. While she writes, Kate reflects that she is lacking in comparison to her accomplished cousins: exotic Neeve, brave and athletic Hillary, and gorgeous, intelligent Phoebe.

Girly-girl Kate realizes she's a daydreaming homebody with tons of friends. But she also feels stressed by the events of the summer and by the way others perceive her. The cousins tease her about her timid and persnickety mannerisms --- and the worst part of the teasing is that she believes them.

Gee asks the girls to help her gather donations for a raffle and auction to benefit the local medical clinic. The other cousins love the idea, but Kate is terrified at the thought of approaching adults to beg for things. Ugh. She fakes enthusiasm, though, to please Gee. Kate's dread escalates when mean girl Sloan threatens the cousins with "problems" if they ask for donations in places where Sloan has connections. great pictures!

As the title summarizes, this book discusses the topic of global warming. The book is split up into chapters that describe what global warming is, how it can effect our planet and everything living on it, and what we can do to stop this problem. A glossary and an index are included. To fit with the earth-friendly subject material, the book is even printed with soy inks on recycled paper.

This book is a great introduction to the topic of global warming. Since this topic is something that people sometimes disagree on, readers can use the information in the book to form their own opinions. I think that the authors do a very good job of not only discussing their opinions, but also using facts to back them up. I think the best chapter in this book is the one discussing what we can do to help the earth. The ideas in this chapter are ones that young people can do on their own, like not leaving the chargers for their cell phone or mp3 player plugged in when the device is not connected to it. The bright bold pictures are what drew me in to this book and they would definitely keep readers interested.

Global Warming

This is a fascinating and easily understood explanation of global warming. Concrete examples will enable children to understand the phenomenon of Global Warming: a popsicle stays frozen at 32 degrees F but falls off the stick at 33 degrees F. Just a one degree difference in earth's average temperature is already causing major changes in climate patterns. Photographs, cartoon illustrations, graphs are eye-catching: there is a picture of an abandoned house on stilts that is now rests at the edge of the ocean because twelve feet of this North Carolina beach are lost each year. Participatory activities like a "connect the dots" and a "match the quote" game. This book also suggests many easy things that kids can do to save energy like unplug the chargers used for cell phones because they use valuable energy even when there is not a phone recharging. Extensive back material includes: a glossary, index, source notes and a list of current material, both books and web sites for further exploration. Every library should have multiple copies.

My 8 year old son has severe ADHD, sensory issues and learning difficulties. He has an IEP in place and getting him to read has been a struggle.

Enter Amber Brown- He LOVES these books and has actually asked for extra reading time while reading one of these books. I'm getting them all! Awesome! I read one myself and found it to ev similar to Blume or Cleary. Those authors hold a special place in my heart and while these are no replacement, they are a welcome addition.

ForeverAmber Brown is a wounderful book about a little girl named Amber Brown. This book is by Paula Danziger. What happens in the book is Amber's best friend Justin has moved away, her mom is dating and really loves the guy. He askes her to marry him. She thought they shoud go to Justins house so they did. They stayed there for a few days. Her mom makes a big choice on to marry the guy or not. Amber brown is not happy with the choice and later she likes the choice and Amber says"Forever Amber Brown." This book is a funny book. This book can happen. There is way more fun and and a good ending to the book. This book is the best book I have read in years.

Amber Brown's life is beginning to get strange. At first she's going home, then to do her homework, the next thing her mom's boyfriend Max, asks her mom to marry him. All then she's going on a trip to Alabama to visit her best friend Justin, and Amber Brown is getting curious. Amber Brown is a very funny and cool in the books by Paula Danziger. The fifth book that I read was Forever Amber Brown.

I absolutely love her books because they're mostly funny. I love the little pictures that the illustrator drew. They're not fancy there just simple and that's what I like about them. I absolutely don't dislike anything about the books. I love the books that Paula Danziger writes about Amber Brown.

Enid Blyton books are still firm favourites and my daughter loves them. This series and Malory Towers are her absolute favourites so she has them in audio and book forms. No need to worry about what the kids are reading when we've all read them ourselves and know there's no dodgy content. Quite enjoyed listening to these myself when she has them on in the car!

Childhood favorite

As a child, I ALWAYS checked this book out upon each visit to the library. I ordered it to read to my son and it is just as I remember. The quality of the copy ordered is amazing for its age.

have wanted a copy for 20 years

used to read this to my kids when they were little, took it out of the library over and over. the artwork, the story line, the way it captures new york are amazing. it was out of print, but now i can buy a copy to read to my grandchildren [when i have them!]

Great Story -- Real New Yorker view of the Cityscape

This is simply a wonderful book. The story is charming and captivating. the illustrations really come to life.

What really struck me a native new yorker was how well he captured the new york cityscape. everyone has admired the ny skyline to the point that many pictures of it almost seem trite. These illustrations (such as water tanks on top of mid-level apartment buildings) capture the intimate visual details new yorkers know and love.

This was a wonderful story, and the pictures were beautiful.

When I was six in 1986, I was often read this book at school. I loved the way the pictures seemed real. And to this day when I see a caged bird I think of the singing canary in the story.

Gentle tale suited to primary age but engaging enough for early teens promoting importance of curiosity, following dreams and treating others with kindness and consideration.

"Poor Selfish, Vapid Vee" would have been a better title.

I honestly thought I'd enjoy this book; fat girl makes good. But instead of being a big, confident woman a la Mo'Nique, Vee is just a selfish jerk, and while that's perfectly fine for Scarlett O'Hara, it's kind of unappealing in a person you're supposed to empathize with and cheer for.

I found myself hoping that Vee would be a spectacular failure and would grow old and die alone, working in a coffee shop, which is pretty cruel even for me.

This isn't fat girl makes good, this is fat girl obsesses about skinny girls and skinny boys and thinks the world revolves around her until suddently it doesn't any more and OMG!!!1 what will happen next?

Ick. Just... Ick.
