Not Worth The Time

Not really a bad book, but there was nothing in it to catch or hold my interest. I didn't finish. Again, not because it was awful, but there just didn't seem a good enough reason to invest the time in listening to the end. Did not care for the narrator. Which made me even less interested in finishing.

Seriously Ridiculous

Although Ms. McDonald is obviously talented with a quirky sense of humor, the basic premise of Dating Dr. Notorious was seriously ridiculous and outdated.

In this century, a female therapist specializing in sexual problems is not considered a fallen woman or prostitute, like some silly Victorian novel. Since everyone's reaction to Regina's profession was implausible, the rest of the story was repetitive and boring.

Likewise, a woman of Regina's intelligence and education having unprotected sex with a man she barely knew (Ben) was equally ridiculous. Given the reality of STDs and the availability of condoms, Regina would not have risked her health.

Dr Notoious

I would have given it all 5s but (1) the prologue was at the end of the book and (2) she is a sex therapist not a sex surrogate so what's the huge deal. Not logical but still entertaining .

Another awesome book! I love this series, but Anne Johnstonbrown lends a new perspective when you hear it read aloud. I love Donna McDonald's writing, and I'm truly enjoying the series in Audible version!

Fantastic story enhanced by audio characterization

This was a re read for me, as I enjoyed the book the 1st time, and on revisiting the whole series, I wanted a refresher on the original stories I had read. I loved the audio rendition.

A Soldier's Christmas is 3 short Christmas stories. I loved all of them. All had HEA's and no cliffhangers. I recommend this book.

Early amateurish effort by author

This book is one of HGâs early efforts, a category romantic suspense. Not a particularly laudable effort. The espionage aspect is very 60s Mission Impossible style, not well developed at all. Dated and amateurish. Everyone smokes, the heroine practically chain smokes. The heroine starts out interesting but rapidly morphed into a stereotypical bird-brained fashion model, most of the time hysterical and weepy. Sheâs a dimwit: leaving her luggage at the train station unattended in search of bananas, forgetting her handbag when she got off the train en route to Moscow, to name a few. A lot is made of the heroineâs klutzy tendency â she repeatedly spills something on the hero or bumps into him, just pure filler (happened 5x). Thereâs quite a bit of internal yada yada and repetitive mention of how attractive the hero is and how his touch made her tingly â actually HG describes it as a âmercury chillâ (mercury mentioned 6x) â Gah, thatâs really an awful analogy. Thereâs a lot of lip biting, pen biting, nail chewing. I just donât see how the heroine could have fallen in love with the hero; after he gave her orgasms for the first time in her life, she thinks sheâs in looove. Her role in the whole spy rigmarole was murky and undeveloped. I donât like the hero: heâs autocratic and rude and sometimes brutal to the heroine. His backstory is nothing remarkable to warrant his attitudes. And of course, with all the unprotected sex, the heroine gets pregnant!! In my opinion, the romance was not very satisfactory because it was not believable.

Heather never writes anything really bad. This was just too rushed and superficial. Doesn't mean I won't keep reading her books. No author is a robot, we all slip once in awhile. If you're not familiar with Heather' s writing, get so. You won't be sorry.

There is nothing like a Heather Graham book. I impatiently wait for her to put out another book. I download it onto my Kindle and can read it in one sitting. Would hightly recommend this author.

Great love story

The characters in the book are separate at first, but the author weaves their story in such a way! I like the setting at the ocean about a believable story and of course, the happy ending.

Needs more than FIVE STARS!

THIS was one of the best books I have read in several months. I loved the main character to death. I was wishing and hoping for a happy ending. I won't tell you how it ends, but I will tell you that the plot has some extreme twists and that it was a GREAT read.

Another excellent book by Heather.

Although it was an older edition, I found the book to be very well written and the story to excellent. Par for Graham.

Remember to visit older relatives and stay close to them while you can.

Very good story with a moral that says things are not always as they seem. Keep open minds and learn a lot about real life. Remember to always stay close to those we love and be visible in their lives.

Another winner.

I've read almost all this author's books and have never been disappointed. You become friends with Susan and are hoping she can finally find happiness although she should have not taken so much bullying from David.

So much wasted potential

Is there anything you would change about this book?

This book at its heart is a decent story with the potential to be great. Unfortunately it was rushed and skipped over so many vital parts that would have given the book what it needs to be truly wonderful.

What was most disappointing about Christine Merrills story?

To many parts were rushed. It went from A to Z in the blink of an eye. It's like the author accidentally left out the entire middle part of the book. They literally went from meeting to I love you in the blink of an eye.

Do you think The Tourist of Zenda needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

No. They really should put forth the effort to make this particular book a whole story not just a glimpse into one.

Not My Favorite From Suzanne...

I love Suzanne and her novels. This story, however, was different. Evan has a job as a janitor. He was mopping and all of a sudden the moping bucket spills and water leaks in to the secret door, the door no one ever goes in. Evan quickly cleans the room and leaves but there is a girl name Emily there. He never saw her before in his life. The problem is Emily is from the year 1978 and Evan is from the year 2012. Evan decides to take Emily to his home until he finds out why Emily keeps saying she is from the year 1978. Will Emily & Evan ever find out why they are meeting even though they are from two different decades??

My favorite character is Antony. He was hilarious, always knew the answer, and was a really good friend. Emily is a very strong character. Now that she is living with Evan, she is attracted to him and wants to help him. Last but not lest Evan. Evan is not happy with his life right now and is trying to make the best of it. He is also attracted to Emily.

I appreciated how Suzanne D Williams, once again, mentioned the importance of saving sex for marriage (no the book is not religious). I loved how she showed the attraction between Emily & Evan, and even though they wanted to sleep with each other they refrained from doing so. I also liked the religious quotes she put in the book. For example (paraphrasing): "One day to God is a thousand years and a thousand years to us is a day with God.".

The only thing I didn't understand was the time traveling. I know it happened but I still don't get it. It really shouldn't have been in the book. Same characters but maybe a different plot.

I LOVE Suzanne's novels and I will continue reading from her, but the time travel series...I might skip out on. Overall, a good story.

A great love story with a time travel twist!

This was a fun book to read. As a time-travel lover, it had me right from the beginning. The characters really come to life and you like them immediately, especially Antony! The story also explores the temptations between a man and woman without ever going over the line, keeping with what God has intended for us, but also being fun and a little sexy. And there's a great little twist at the end that I never saw coming. Love that! Really great book. Can't wait to read more!!

And as in to what the author says of abstinence it's true... No matter how hard cuz trust me it will be hard it's better to wait till u get married and it'll all be worth it.

REEEEEEEEEEEEALLLY BORING!!!

Very disappointing. the actual storyline had potential but it was written soooooooooo boringly!! no chemistry between the two characters because of how it was written. Just really bad.

Imbalanced, implausible, unlikeable H

At an actual 2.75, this book is okay, and the narrator gets a 3.5. Beware that the story includes explicit language and one act of anal sex near the end. There's plenty of other sex included too. Also, there were at least two inconsistencies during the course of the story and believability was a consistent issue for me.

I wish that the author had more of a knack for sensuality instead of just rawness. Serafina and Luca move into sex too quickly for me. Quick connections, attractions are plausible. But, in this story, there was no gradualness in their sex, thus the relationship appears to be only physical, which went against the authors intent. And moving into sex so quickly makes their quick move into lovewhen, really, only sex has been a part of their relationshipconsiderably less believable. It was never clear why they were attracted to each other beyond the one unknowable something. But that seems very little to build a relationship on; its enough to attract but beyond that, once you get to know each otherheh. So where was the chemistry? Where was the delight in each other beyond the physical? Nothing was present except for good sex. Similarly, Serafinas very quick inclusion into Lucas family by his extended family was over-the-top also.

In light of this books title, including more of the erotic literature Serafina teaches wouldve been a plus. Having Serafina be a 24-year-old tenured professor who hasnt completed her doctorate yet seems quite farfetched. I dont even know the purpose of such an extreme and unbelievable setup. This is especially true considering she never comes across as a 24-year-old; she comes across as older. The excuse is that she was a child genius, which is stated but never evident or apparent presently.

I think Luca was a bit of a dominating ass, with no finesse when dominating in and out of bed. In the way he was portrayed, it seemed to be all about power and not also about desire. It was supposed to be him being protective and show care for Serafina, but it doesnt come across that way at all most of the time. And it scares Serafina at times. It may have been the way the narrator portrayed him during those moments or a combination of the two.

This was quite entertaining and cute. Sara is obsessed with rock star, Tyler Vincent and is determined to meet him. She meets a new transfer student at school and she falls for this rock-star-in-the-making, Dale. Their love is sweet and Dale jumps totally into the relationship. Sara enters and wins a contest and is then faced with a choicetravel to Tyler Vincents home town to meet him, or stay and support Dale in a Battle-of-the-Bands hosted by MTV. Please be aware, there is some violence.

Rockstar Romance!

This was a great rockstar romance. If you're in the market for a new book boyfriend, Dale Diamond is your man! You can't help but fall in love with him and root for him and Sarah!

Just as good as I expected from this author

I initially avoided this book because of reviews expressing strong distaste for an H who abandoned his child for the sake of his career. But its not that simple. The H at 18 hated small town life and had worked hard for a lucrative college scholarship, to get himself and his girlfriend a better life out of the town. Then she gets pregnant and dies shortly after childbirth. H had abandoned his scholarship, married his girlfriend and got a job at a local hotel to support them. Personally I think not many 18 year olds would have done this. Finding himself responsible for a newborn baby, I find it understandable that when his wifes grieving parents offer to look after the baby so that he can take up his college scholarship, he accepts their offer. Ok, so he makes a big mistake and then loses contact with his child due to a career choice that required lots of overseas travel but also due to unhelpful grandparents who wanted to raise their only grandson. But he knows he messed up, and is back to put things right. So I get annoyed at judgmental reviews that see this as unforgivable. Would these reviewers rather he just stayed away?

With a classic first greeting between the H and h (Is your mother home?), this is a satisfying romance with that humour and repartee that I love about Susan Andersen books. Instant attraction between the couple takes some time to develop further, as the H struggles to form a relationship with his teenage son which, I was pleased to note, took priority for both H and h. The h, although not happy with the idea of losing her de facto little brother also realised that a relationship with his dad was a positive thing that needed nurturing. She is not happy with losing her guardianship, but also realistic enough to put the needs of the child before her own. In this aspect, especially, it was good to find a book where the two adults actually acted like adults, put the childs needs first at all times, and never let their emotions cloud the issue where the child was concerned.
