Mostly Low Budget Movie Reviews with Clarence

Tom Cruise takes on one of his most unconventional roles yet as an arrogant oil tycoon dealing with an environmental disaster and political damage control.

With its unusual stage-play presentation, dark humor, environmental themes, and strong performances, Digger is definitely a movie that will spark some debate.

39 years later, A Different World is back! 👀

As a huge fan of the original, I had A LOT of questions going into this reboot. Can a new generation of characters capture the spirit of the original? Does it rely too heavily on nostalgia? And most importantly… does it actually respect the source material?

So… did A Different World make a successful comeback? 🤔

Gal Gadot stars in The Runner, a fast-paced action/mystery thriller about a mother who receives a terrifying call informing her that her son has been kidnapped—and she’s given a dangerous task that she must complete to get him back.

With critics and audiences both giving this one a rough reception, I went in wondering if The Runner was really as bad as the numbers suggested.

Netflix’s current #1 trending movie brings together a strong cast, a dark mystery, and a serial-killer investigation with plenty of unsettling atmosphere. The story follows detectives trying to uncover the connection between a new case and a notorious killer from the past, while a father desperately searches for his kidnapped son.

So, is The Whisper Man worth whispering about—or does Netflix’s #1 movie struggle to deliver the payoff?

What happens when a dying mother gives her daughters one final—and disturbing—request?

Is God Is is a dark, unconventional revenge story that mixes mystery, thriller, dark comedy, Southern folklore, and some surprisingly heavy themes. The performances are strong across the board, and the movie definitely has its own unique visual and storytelling style.

Critics and audiences loved this one, but did it work for me?

The End of Oak Street surprised me! 🦖

Set in 1982, this mystery/sci-fi thriller takes a suburban family and drops them into a prehistoric world filled with dinosaurs. The premise is wild, the ’80s atmosphere is fantastic, and there’s more family drama and character development than I expected.
