The way we live, in response to the mercy of God lavished upon us in the gospel, lies at the heart of Christian worship.

The sermon this week is on the theme of Christian perseverance. It covers a lot of different subjects, but fleeing evil and pursuing righteousness is a big one, as well as the return of Jesus. God's mighty power and transcendence is an important theme, as are calling and election.

The sermon this week is about money: it's potential evil and how Christians should be using their money in this age, with an eye to eternity. I really try to push that eschatological perspective. It's a text that is calling us to be committed in our generosity. That's the best way for the Christian to combat greed.

There are themes related to being the slave of Christ, contentment, being part of a family of God, how the gospel changes all our relationships, the love of money, life and death giving us perspective on our worldly situations.

The emphases this week is on love for our brothers and sisters, personal sacrifice, selflessness, and honour to our parents. Social justice plays a part as well.
