The group of men and boys trek into the Red Rock area of Gariwerd. They discover five Brush-tailed rock wallabies and watch them from a distance through binoculars and camera lenses. Back at the campsite they decide to check out a nearby Aboriginal rock art site. The next day they travel to a second rock art site. Back home, they check on Toot ... he's now tame. The boys are delivered back to Horsham. Ivy is fascinated to learn of Trent and Stan's relationship.

Toot the galah becomes much more tame. Frogs move into the new pond at Golton Island. A group of six go camping near the Victoria Range, on the western side of Gariwerd, one weekend. Stan finds himself having to fess-up to something he has done. There is a long explanation from Stan which results in good understanding among them all, and the mystery of the unknown stalker is solved.

A journey is made to the Barrabool Forest. Richard, Max and the two boys go to Blackfellows' Waterhole where the boys learn something of a mystery. The four travelers then drive to the Wimmera River at Longerenong. After lunch they walk to where the Yarriambiack Creek leaves the river. Then they visit a small grave yard. Richard talks of Samuel Wilson's influence in the Wimmera. Later, the boys are shown Max's mystery photo. The next day Ivy and the Adkin family visit Golton Island.They are shown Toot, and Ivy tries out the new piano. The day finishes with a soirée.

Rory's school friend, Danny, joins him at Golton Island for Easter. The boys get on well and Danny addresses a new personal challenge. Rory and Danny take a bush walk along the river. They find and rescue an injured galah. Richard knows how to help the bird with masking tape. An old bird cage is cleaned and brought back into use. They name the galah Toot. The boys have some alone time at the water hole when they realise that they are being watched from a distance.

Trent visits Golton Island to inspect where a pond is to be placed. They talk of nardoo and its involvement with the Burke and Wills exploration party. The stalker is mentioned, and what happened is explained to Trent. Trent is asked about his sexuality. Max and Richard meet Danny's parents and siblings. Plans are made for Easter and there is discussion about racial and sexual discrimination.

Max and Richard have a discussion about the grieving process. They also discuss the reality of them now being responsible for Rory's welfare. There is talk of a new pond in the garden at Golton Island. A white light of curiosity is shone on Trent. The piano is delivered to Golton Island. Rory talks about Danny and plans are made for a stay-over visit from Danny. Rory and his uncles go for a swim. While they are there they become aware of someone watching them through binoculars. They work out a cheeky response.

The funeral for Rory's parents and siblings is organised. Rory has a day of solitude at Golton Island. Rory is told of the intention by Max and Richard to purchase a piano. Danny befriends Rory at school. About 40 mourners attend the quadruple funeral. Danny get permission from school to be present too. There are 4 private cremations at Ballarat Crematorium. That evening there is a meal at Ivy Pasco's.

Rory returns to Ivy's place after the weekend. Back at Golton Island, just on sunset, Max and Richard receive a visit from the police. The two police people bring bad news about a road accident. Rory is informed of the accident which has caused the deaths of his parents and siblings. There is a trip to Bendigo to do formal identifications.

The City of Horsham stops for a Police Honours funeral for the leader of Victoria Police's Search and Rescue Squad. The Police Pipe Band adds to the ceremony. As Richard marches down the street in front of the hearse he is completely surrounded by the pipe band. There is an emotional moment in front of the Horsham Police Station. Richard and Max debrief afterwards at Ivy's place. Rory goes to Golton Island for the weekend. The water-hole gets used for swimming and Rory converts to Naturism with an add-on incident.

A staff party is held at Golton Island to thank the staff for their patience during the recent business changes. A bottle opener attracts attention. The guests all get along well and there is general good-humored banter. Rory entertains the guests with his guitar. A phone call alerts everybody of an upcoming Police Honours funeral. Trent and Stan cause questions to be asked.
