Jimmy Davis - Since God has caused us to be ‘born again’ into His family we have a new way of loving in the world. We love one another earnestly, from a pure heart, without sibling rivalry. But since God has caused us to be ‘born again’ by His imperishable gospel, we also have imperishable power to love one another as Christ has loved us!

He’s a man who knows that as boats need a ballast to steady them in the storm, God’s people need the weighty, glorious real grace of God to steady them in the storms of real life.

Jimmy Davis - In order to encourage us to live the real life of who we are (exiles), Peter declares to us the real grace of whose we are (God’s elect).

Jimmy Davis - As we begin our journey through 1 Peter, we consider this: If I don’t see the real grace of God shining, even dimly, through the thick fog of my real life, I will end up in a ditch of despair. If I can’t see Jesus, I can’t keep going.

Jimmy Davis - Have you ever felt overlooked or outcast? The shepherds were welcomed into Jesus' story and so are you. In Luke 2 we receive the good news of great joy that the Good Shepherd became the Lamb who takes away our sin and shame by taking them on Himself.

Jimmy Davis - Does having God’s favor in my life mean that everything’s going to go my way? Not exactly. Ask Mary and Joseph! Everything will go God’s way, but that’s the way we need things to go so that Christ is formed in us for God’s glory, the world’s good, and our ultimate gladness.
