A reflection of how it feels to watch life unfold in new, beautiful ways.
These words are inspired by a quote I heard a little while back:
“Your assumptions are your windows on the world. Scrub them off every once in a while, or the light won't come in.”
― Isaac Asimov
It’s often hard to feel as though you’re still on the right path when things have changed so suddenly. It’s hard and as anyone can tell, it's an uphill battle. One of the hardest mountains to move. Being fully okay with change, adapting fully to a new version of yourself takes so much time.
But that's the true beauty of it. It's always changing. So let it.
Change it up. Go after something new. Let yourself miss the old habits you formed. Let your heart long for the way things used to be. Or watch as your heart grabs onto something new and take it where it wants to go.
That is a mountain moment.
Until next time.. Keep Climbing.
Love always,
Jake
In this episode, I chatted with Alex Childs (childszz), a day one homie and when I say day one I mean way back in grade two when we really thought we ran that school, but nonetheless, fast forward 16 years and here we are.
We open up the conversation and discuss growing up, accepting what we cannot control and the tough moments he’s faced on the road to happiness.
Until next time… Keep Climbing.
Love always,
Jake
In this episode I chatted with Chris Studer (@chrisstuder_), Co-Executive Director of The Get Real Movement (@getrealmovement), a non for-profit organization whose mission is to combat 2SLGBTQ+, discrimination, racism and bullying in schools, summer camps and workplace.
Chris got involved in Get REAL because of the success he was having speaking to first year students about homophobic language during his time in the Western Orientation “Welcome Week” program. He found he had an ability to get through to kids who reminded him of himself at a younger age by sharing his own experiences of friends coming out to him, embracing his own differences, and learning from others to be a supportive friend.
We discuss the effect of sharing personal stories, what it means to set an example for future generations and both aspirations moving forward for both himself as well as the organization.
Until next time… Keep Climbing.
Love always,
Jake
In this episode, I chatted with Marcus Smith, also known as @ThatMotivatedKid.
The Instagram handle says it all. Marcus is someone that if you don’t know now, you will soon know way more than the radiant smile you see over social media.
Open and POSITIVE (emphasis intended), we discussed his journey through positivity and how he stays so motivated, the intention behind it and how we can all continue the conversation around what always being positive really entails.
Until next time… Keep Climbing.
Love always,
Jake
