Right now, Lula really needs a friend, not an enemy.
As if starting a new job and mourning her grandma’s death isn’t stressful enough, the Bar C Ranch Cook seems to have it out for Lula. Juan criticizes her work, accuses her of stealing, and calls her names in Spanish- which he knows she doesn’t understand despite their shared Mexican heritage.
Lula and Juan struggle to find common ground on the ranch. Meanwhile, Lula struggles with loneliness and depression as she grieves her grandmother.

Travis is a nice guy: approachable, a good listener, has strong morals, and is so ready for a committed relationship when feisty farrier Lacy Doyle shows up at the Bar C ranch.
Travis isn’t the only one with eyes for Lacy. Cocky cowboy Jake proposes a challenge to see who can get the girl.
Jake pulls out all the stops, gaslighting, emotional blackmail, using flattery, triangulation and withholding information to manipulate others. Meanwhile, Travis does every “nice” thing he can think of. He shows up for Lacy in ways Jake won’t. And it doesn’t seem to get him anywhere.
Travis’s story is about being the underdog in a world where bullies regularly win.
This is Part One. Part Two published August 15, 2025.

Tommy took a risk, moving to Mountain Town to start a business, but the last few years were rough: the death of his wife, sudden single-fatherhood, estrangement from the father he grew up with and meeting his real dad for the first time. Burnt out at his job and bored with life- relocating to the other side of the state and opening Metalwerx was the fresh start he needed.
Within weeks, his professional life was on fire. His personal life, however, consisted of microwaved Hot Pockets and evenings watching Bluey with his three-year-old son Branson.
Then Cheridan Reese rode into his life like a rhinestone cowgirl. Tommy falls head over boots for the kindergarten teacher when she takes a summer gig as Branson’s nanny.
To be continued…
