She is trained in Bharatanatyam, Jazz and Contemporary dance styles. After completing her Masters in Management, she entered the banking Industry where she worked in Standard Chartered bank, Wells Fargo bank and HSBC for over 7 years. But she quit 3 years ago to continue pursuing her passion in dance forward. She also happens to be an avid writer with her work having been published in Gal-dem, Unread magazine and DNA India.

Ms. Anita Vijay is a Bharatanatyam dancer with more than 20 years of experience. She has performed on various occasions and toured across the world but felt that her performances were leaving her with many more questions and very few answers. As a consequence, Ms. Anita started Abhinayam Dance also known as Abhinayam Dance Network, an initiative, in hopes to empower Indian Classical Dancers so that they may find strength in attaining their passion on their own terms. She also provides a space for artists from across the world to share their views, thoughts and experiences with budding artists and future dancers.
