In this week's episode, the three main characters of the book of Acts: the Gospel, the Church and the Holy Spirit are at play. The Church begins to experience persecution for their belief in Jesus, they're scattered across the region, but instead of stopping the mission, God uses their circumstances to carry the Good News of Jesus into new places to reach new people.

God sends Philip on a desert road into Samaria to cross paths with an Ethiopian official. We learn how one act of obedience and one conversation can change someone’s eternity. Philip follows the Holy Spirit’s leading, opens the Scriptures, and points to Jesus. His example challenges us to recognize the opportunities God places right in front of us to share our faith.

We’re reminded that the gospel is more powerful than our prejudices, preferences, and social boundaries—and that sometimes the people we’re most tempted to avoid are the very people God is calling us to love and reach. In this episode, we’ll explore how the Holy Spirit empowers ordinary people to tell the world about Jesus. We’ll see how Peter—who only weeks earlier was afraid to acknowledge Jesus—now boldly stands before thousands and proclaims the life, death, resurrection, and lordship of Christ. His transformation reminds us that being a witness doesn't require being an expert. A witness simply tells what they have seen, heard, and experienced.

In Acts 2, we learn how the Holy Spirit works alongside Scripture, illuminating God's Word and pointing people directly to Jesus. As Peter proclaims the gospel, hearts are pierced, people recognize their need for Jesus, and approximately 3,000 respond in faith. But Acts 2 isn't just a story about what happened then. It's a picture of what God wants to continue doing now.

The challenge is personal: Who is one person God has placed around you who needs to hear about Jesus? As the Spirit fills us, He sends us. As He sends us, He helps people hear. Why do our relationships become so difficult—and what if the real source of the conflict isn't the other person?

This week, we explore what happens when good desires become demands and when our pursuit of comfort, recognition, approval, or control begins to compete with our allegiance to God. The book of James calls this friendship with the world—a way of living that places our own desires above God's will. But the message doesn't end with conviction. James gives us a path forward: submit to God, draw near to Him, repent, and humble ourselves. We'll discover how surrendering control changes not only our relationship with God but also the way we treat everyone around us.
