Jesus didn’t train his disciples in a classroom. He brought them along with him, showed them how to make disciples, let them try it themselves, and eventually sent them out to do it without him.

John Wesley helped spark a movement that spread across England and beyond. But one of the keys to how he developed leaders was intentional accountability centered on becoming like Jesus.
In this episode, I look at Wesley’s Holy Club, the Methodist Bands, and how a grace-based approach to accountability helped develop leaders. I also explain why I believe character development must be the first step in leadership development, and why being a disciple who looks like Jesus is essential to multiply disciples who look like Jesus.

Peter denied Jesus three times. Thomas doubted. James and John fought over who was the greatest. But despite their imperfections, the Twelve consistently demonstrated that they were faithful, available, and teachable.
In this episode, I explore what it means to identify FAT leaders, how Jesus modeled this, and what practical characteristics distinguish potential movement leaders from people who never quite become multipliers.
If multiplication rises and falls on leadership development, then identifying the right people is the first step.
This post is part 3 in my series on leadership development. This post goes hand in glove with my last post on filtering to find leaders using precision harvesting, so check out that one if you haven’t already.

A year ago, we set a goal to identify 6–10 potential church planting multipliers in Raleigh-Durham by August 1, 2026. We just crossed that date. Did we achieve our goal?
In this episode, I reflect on what God has done.

Jesus invested deeply in a few while still loving and serving the many. In this episode, I explain how "Precision Harvesting" helps identify future movement leaders, avoid overcommitting to non-multipliers, and focus your time where it will have the greatest Kingdom impact.

The key to multiplication is leadership development, but the first step is identifying the right leaders. I share why Christlike character, not charisma or gifting, is the foundation for healthy movements and lasting multiplication.

Did disciple-making movements suddenly emerge out of nowhere in the 1990s? In this episode, I trace the roots of the modern CPM/DMM paradigm through the lives of Bill and Susan Smith, underground house churches in China, pioneering missionaries, and the historic movements that came before them.

I hate how the word networking makes me feel. It feels like something I want to avoid, but it’s actually the highest value activity that I can do to accomplish my strategic plan in 2026.
In this episode, I share lessons I’ve learned about networking to find movement catalysts, and how it’s more about making friends than networking anyway.

The easiest places to start movements often come with a hidden cost. In this episode, I explain why disciples struggle after leaving prisons, schools, and the military, and how grounding people in Scripture, not methods, helps them endure and adapt.

Church Planting and Disciple Making Movements are a hot topic in the missions world today, but a lot of people have doubted that movements could happen in the West. They often say, “Why isn’t it happening here?”
My substack was created to say “they are happening here” and this podcast is a prime example. It’s Part 2 of a case study of the first modern church planting movement in the west.
