Movie Chumps episodes

  • Episode 137: Rocky and Rocky II
A bonafide 1-2 punch! Rocky and Rocky 2 in one episode! Luke & Corrye throw flowers everywhere: at Carl Weathers, Bill Conti's score, the training montages, Mickey, everything Stallone went through to get these films made, and of course, the beloved city of Philadelphia. Luke explains why the final fight in Rocky lacks character, while Corrye points out the on-brand move by Paulie (Burt Young) that you probably never noticed. PLUS: Has Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson worn out his welcome? We've also got multiple Burgess Meredith impressions, as well as an ode to the longtime voice of animated Batman, Kevin Conroy.

  • Episode 136: Ad Astra
The Chumps take a machete to the science in Ad Astra, if you can even call it science. The nitpicks come in early and often: the space tower that Brad Pitt falls from, the space travel,
the pirates on the moon, the half-ass "no aliens" conclusion, and much more. Also: why not more of Donald Sutherland? PLUS: what in the world are "ball barns?" You'll never forget them after hearing Mike's description. And a cool YouTube channel recommendation for the whole family!

  • Episode 135: Halloween Kills
The headline here is...Halloween Kills, does, indeed, kill. Luke & Corrye have zero time for the film's haters, offering broadsides upon broadsides on why Michael Myers' return adds
a big feather in the franchise cap. Anthony Michael Hall does his thing, as does Judy Greer. The Chumps wax philosophical on the hospital mob scene, and what it means in a larger sense, before breaking down Michael's down-for-the-count comebacks against the firefighters and later Tommy Doyle's vigilantes.

  • Episode 134: It Chapter 2
It's the big question in It Chapter 2: can the adult actors match the chemistry of the child stars from Chapter 1? Luke & Corrye trade thoughts on this, the final fight with Pennywise, Stephen King's cameo, the author's controversial endings, the suicide that rallies the Losers Club, and the one scene where Corrye believes the 1990 version of It actually nailed it better. PLUS: three cheers for the House of the Dragon season 1 finale!

  • Episode 133: It Chapter 1
It's one thing to live up to the hype, it's another thing to smash through it. 2017's It (chapter 1) does just that. Corrye should know: it's his 2nd favorite novel of all time, and he's well-versed in this story and all things Stephen King. Meanwhile, it's Luke's first watch - and first ANYTHING that has to do with the Pennywise tale. Highlights: the chemistry among the Losers Club; Derry as a character; Bill Skarsgard's portrayal; what they kept in the book; the controversial scene NOT in the movie...and much more. PLUS: the Creed III trailer, and more crazy sh** on House of the Dragon episode 9.

  • Episode 132: The Fly (1986)
It's the film that turned Jeff Goldblum into an icon. A quirky icon, but an icon nonetheless. The Chumps dissect Geena Davis's genius "reaction acting," Seth Brundle's loft, why director David Cronenberg played the doctor in the film, and why this is arguably the most pro-choice movie of all time. PLUS: Luke has a hissy-fit over Daemond Targaryen, and Corrye almost kills himself with a new coffee mug.
    1 hr 37 min
  • Episode 131: Killer Klowns from Outer Space
It's the Gettysburg of B-movies. We're talking Killer Klowns From Outer Space. The Chumps welcome the OTHER Cory (Cory Kesselring). One conclusion: We loved Officer Mooney (shoutout to John Vernon). We also shared our favorite deaths, and the most absurd scenes. PLUS: What the Chiodo Brothers (3 of them!) actually got right with this film; a beloved director makes a comeback; and House of the Dragon delivers its spiciest episode yet.

  • Episode 130: 28 Days Later
All good horror films are talking about something else. So what is 28 Days Later talking about? Luke & Corrye break out the microscope to rip through this thriller. From the guerilla-style way this was shot, to the symbolism behind that chained-up zombie, to the always lovable Brendan Gleeson, the Chumps explain why they're anointing this 2002 flick a game-changer in the genre. PLUS: Luke recommends two former colleagues, and Corrye blows a gasket over a new trailer! We're also rapping about those rascal Targaryen & Velaryon kids in episode 6 of House of the Dragon.

  • Episode 129: Signs
What a cocktail here: faith, science, coincidence, aliens, Hitchcockian thrills, Mel Gibson, water. We re-watch M. Night Shyamalan's 2002 hit Signs, with Friend of the Pod Mike Pagano. The fellas explore that touching "last supper" scene, the alien's three appearances before the final showdown, Abigail "Bo" Breslin, the water glasses, Merrill Hess's promising baseball career, and so much more! PLUS: Luke isn't sure whether to recommend a film or not...then recommends it anyway while recommend you NOT watch it.
    1 hr 57 min
  • Episode 128: Krull
It might be a fun pile of sh**, but is that just our nostalgia talking? Luke & Corrye welcome Cory K. back to the pod to throw shade at Krull, the 1983 sci-fi fantasy. We crack some Liam Neeson jokes, wax philosophical on the mountain climb, scratch our heads over the infamous weapon known as the Glaive, and figure out why a movie that looked spectacular on paper managed to fall so short. PLUS: be on the lookout for a Staind impression, a Banana Man reference (old school Nickelodeon!)...and we're talking House of the Dragon Episode 4!

Luke Mayo, Corrye Cooke and their locker room of oddball buddies over-analyze a wild mix of films. What's profound? What's ridiculous? We like to think of ourselves as the Beyonce of movie podcasts…
