Great Scott we've done it! 10 episodes in! What better movie to do for episode 10 than Robert Zemeckis' (Romancing the Stone/Contact) 1985 classic, Back to the Future. Starring Michael J. Fox, Christopher Lloyd, Lea Thompson, and Crispin Glover, Back to the Future is one of the most iconic, memorable, and quotable movies there is, truly one of the greatest movies in modern pop culture. In fact this movie is so fun and inspiring that it became today's guest's favorite movie. T.J. Redding is a good friend and front man of Connecticut based emo band Mighty Tortuga. I couldn't be happier to talk this movie with him. Kevin Smith is one of the most influential nerds in a hockey jersey and we love him for every minute of it. From making some of the most memorable movies, hosting comic book men, voicing many of your favorite comic heroes at one point or another, and running the Jay and Silent Bob get old podcast with long time collaborator Jason Mewes, there really isn't much to not love about Kevin Smith. Today's guest and friend, Justin Humenik of Philadelphia based pop punk band Cheer Up Dusty, can attest to that as we talk about his favorite movie, Clerks. Kevin Smith's 1994 cult classic is the first film he ever made and began what would come to be known as the View Askewniverse. Shot on a budget of $27,750 in the convenient/video store that Smith worked in, Clerks truly is an amazing film. Three bands, one man, and a great conversation about a true classic, what more could you ask for? Today's guest is my good friend Mike Held of Jealous Mind, a Connecticut based hardcore band, Ghost Chant, a New York based melodic hardcore band, and Was and When, his own indie project. Mike is a man of many hats in the music world, much like the star of today's movie, School of Rock. A 2003 Richard Linklater (Dazed & Confused, Boyhood) film starring Jack Black and featuring Miranda Cosgrove, Joan Cusack, Sarah Silverman, and Mike White, School of Rock is a classic movie that can inspire anyone and everyone to fall in love with music. For episode 6 we shook things up a bit and my wonderfully amazing friend Tony and I got together in the same room and recorded this weeks podcast! A coming of age teen comedy written by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, directed by Greg Mottola, produced by Judd Apatow and staring a studded cast of Jonah Hill, Michael Cera, Rogen, Bill Hader, Cristopher Mintz-Plasse, and Emma Stone, Superbad is one of the greatest comedies of the last 20 years. "I can't stand you doing that thing you do..." Is one infectious hook that will be stuck in your head for days to come, kind of like any song you hear from today's guest With the Punches drummer Shane Maziekien. I have been a huge fan of With the Punches for years, they have been an inspiration to me as a musician and still serve as an inspiration to this day. From playing some shows together, to fantasy football, and now to Podcasting, I'm excited to talk with Shane about his favorite movie "That Thing You Do." A 1996 film written, directed by, and starring Tom Hanks in his directorial debut. The film follows fictional '60s band the Wanders on their meteoric rise to stardom and all of the troubles and victories that come along the way. Episode four features our first guest who isn't front and center! Our first none lead vocalist guest is Poeta bassist Zach Kehley. I was fortunate enough to meet and play with Zach and Poeta last year and we have staid friends ever since. Today Zach and I sit down to chat about his favorite movie Almost Famous, another first for the podcast as this is the first music themed movie I've talked about. Almost Famous is a 2000 semi autobiographical film written and directed by Cameron Crowe. It stars Patrick Fugit as he follows around fictional '70's rock band Stillwater to try and capture a story for Rolling Stone Magazine. The film also stars Kate Hudson, Billy Crudup, Frances McDormand, and Jason Lee with features from Anna Paquin and Philip Seymour Hoffman. Bueller...Bueller...Bueller? Another week, another classic, this time with Henry Menzel of Keep Flying. 10 years now I've known and played music with Henry and we finally got a chance to talk about it and one of the most quotable movies of all time. Released in 1986 by the iconic John Hughes and starring Matthew Broderick, Mia Sara, and Alan Ruck, Ferris Bueller's Day Off is a fun, timeless movie that anyone can enjoy. For our second episode, Radam links up with Westly "Wes" Benjunas, frontman of Connecticut based emo band, Sunday Morning. For Wes's favorite movie we talk about the 1933 version of The Invisible Man. Based on the H.G. Wells novel of the same name, The Invisible Man stars Claude Raine as the eponymous invisible man at a time where CGI and visual effects did not exist.
