  • Movieing On #179: Before Sunrise
We haven’t had the opportunity to do a Richard Linklater movie before this, so today – as we inch ever so much closer to episode #200, we sit down to watch the first in the ‘Before’ series of movies, Before Sunrise.

  • Movieing On #178: Truly, Madly, Deeply
Following the death of Alan Rickman, we decided to cover one of his less known movies, Truly, Madly, Deeply. It’s a touching movie, especially as it deals with … well; the death of Alan Rickman.

  • Movieing On #177: The Man who Fell to Earth
After last week’s untimely death of David Bowie, we decided that it was only proper to do one of his movies for this week’s episode of Movieing On. Unfortunately, the movie we picked might also be one of his most impenetrable. While memorable and artistically interesting, it’s a very difficult movie to talk about.

  • Movieing On #175: Explorers
This week, the team joins forces to talk to each other for a solid 38 minutes about the 1985 movie Explorers. You can expect the first act of our discussion to be promising. The second act of our discussion is entertaining and charming, but then everything just falls apart at the third act and leaves you ultimately disappointed. No; wait, that’s what we thought about the movie!
The IMDb synopsis of the movie reads as follows:
A boy obsessed with 50s sci-fi movies about aliens has a recurring dream about a blueprint of some kind, which he draws for his inventor friend. With the help of a third kid, they follow it and build themselves a spaceship. Now what?

  • Movieing On #174: The Usual Suspects
This week on Movieing On, Breki and Toerag sit down to have a chat about the 1995 classic, The Usual Suspects. Directed by Bryan Singer and written by Christopher McQuarrie, it’s a movie that many claim to be the best of the bunch when it comes to doing what it does. It’s certainly best remembered for the twist at the end, and will likely live on as a very popular movie.
… But is it the 24th best movie of all time?

  • Movieing On #171: Face/Off
This week, we’re talking about the 1997 action movie Face/Off, not starring Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger, although that would have made for a far more interesting movie. Listen to Andrew, Breki, Rachel and Toerag discuss the intricacies of the plot, the deeper meanings behind the film, the illustrious careers of sirs Cage and Travolta, as well as the impeccable editing skill that this movie underwent.
Or, you know, you could listen to what we actually thought.

This week on Movieing On, Breki Tomasson sits down with Dr. Toerag and Rachel to talk about the 1978 Buddy Holly Biopic, The Buddy Holly Story. They discuss whether or not it’s a good idea to portray a person’s life in such a matter-of-fact way, whether this might be a documentary or not and what makes for a good biopic. They also discuss the obvious elephant in the room – Gary Busey.
