As we close in on the 2nd to the last church in Revelation we come to the church in the city of Philadelphia. These believers were in pretty good standing during this time. In episode 355 we came to the church in Smyrna and it seems Philadelphia seemed to encounter the same group of people that slandered, despised, and opposed those who were as Jesus defines them as “The synagog of Satan” and He judges righteously calling them ‘liars.’ Verse 10 is a verse that we know the camp of “Pre-Triulationists” tend to bank on for their theology. There is some really interesting commentary by William Macdonald to back up the “pre-trip” understandings that we get into. Lots of commentary and original language we get into for todays episode you guys, very intriguing stuff in todays episode for sure.

Today has been a little bit of a different day, I thought I could fit in my podcast in today’s schedule, but I just can’t, hope to see you guys next week God willing!

As we look at the 5th church in the book of Revelation we come to the church in the city of Sardis. Very interesting Church, they were not in similar surrounding threats or sinful influences as other churches, but they had lacked what I came to agreement with when Matthew Henry categorize this church as “hypocrites” and I share further on that. I also share some insight on “one’s name being blocked out from the book of life.” This term can scare believers when they first read it, but I share some commentary and some insight to help us understand when this term is used.

As we look at the fourth church in Revelation we come to the church in the city in Thyatira. They had excelled in many good works such as love, service, faith, and patient endurance. These works was not just good fruit in their life, it had increased since it’s Genesis. There were different people in the church doing different things, some good, some bad to a different degree. As we study this church, we will see the different ways that Jesus judges and weighs out different types of people. (Proverbs 11:1)

As we get three weeks into looking at the seven churches the apostle John wrote to, we come to the church in the city of Pergamum. Now there was good fruit in their lives, but there was some bad compromise as well. Lots of good commentary that I found, especially for verse 16. We also look at what did Jesus mean by a “white stone, hidden manna and a new name?”

Well beloved, today is going to be a little bit of a longer episode. You’re like; “bro Josiah it’s 3 verses what the heck.” My goodness I know right? 😭 guys there is so much to unpack and way too much good stuff I came across that I had to share in today’s episode. As we look at the second church here in Revelation, the church in Smyrna was at the particular time; pretty grounded in their sanctification process. There wasn’t any spiritual pride in their heart in them seeing this, and Jesus had a lot of praise to the saints in Smyrna.
