From 2014: Joining me is Rob Kutner, long-time comedy writer for Conan O’Brien on both his TBS show, “Conan,” and “The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien” before that. Kutner has also been a staff writer for “The Dennis Miller Show” and “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.” This is his third Mr. Media appearance. We’ll also be joined by brothers Joel and Stephen Levinson performing two songs from 2776, “Escape from New York” and “I Want to Take a Nap.”

From 2014: It’s official: Every 20 years, I plan to interview sports agent Leigh Steinberg. So go ahead, mark your calendars now for 2034. Our crack research team here at Mr. Media dug into the print morgue and found that it was 20 years ago that I last spoke with the man who inspired Tom Cruise’s character in the movie Jerry Maguire. That was for a three-part story in Gallery magazine titled “Sports Agents: The Art of the Deal.”

It was the first book ever excerpted on the front page of USA Today. It was a finalist for the Financial Times of London’s best business book of the year. And it was named one of the Top 10 business books ever. It also sold more than 100,000 copies and became a New York Times and Businessweek bestseller.

From 2014: I first had my friend, novelist Jim Melvin, on this show when "The Death Wizard Chronicle Book One: Forged in Death" was published and, while many years have passed and at least one of us has picked up some grey, I’m thrilled to have him back to discuss the approaching completion of the series.

From 2014: Mark Simon produces animation – including work on “The Little Rascals” cartoon and live action remake – and one of his companies helps people to sell their TV ideas. We’re going to start the conversation with his latest book, "Storyboards: Motion in Art," which is a massive how-to for anyone with ambitions in the field. And I’m hoping Mark will also provide a demonstration of what a storyboard artist actually does.

From 2014: Anthony DeCurtis is still connected to Rolling Stone magazine, but he has broadened his scope in recent years. Last year he co-authored "The Soundtrack of My Life," the memoir of record label legend Clive Davis; this year he is working on a biography of the late Lou Reed. And he won a Grammy Award for his liner notes on Eric Clapton’s Crossroads box set and wrote an introduction for an upcoming book of Clapton photos called "Journeyman."

From 2014: Robert Greenfield wrote two previous books about the world’s most dangerous band, 1974’s well-received "S.T.P.: A Journey through America with The Rolling Stones" and 2006’s not-as-well reviewed "Exile on Main St.: A Season in Hell with the Rolling Stones." So Greenfield – and rock fans – could have gone either way with his latest up-close-and-personal report, "Ain’t It Time We Said Goodbye: The Rolling Stones on the Road to Exile." From 2014: Mike Sacks just published his second collection of interviews with comedy writers, "Poking A Dead Frog: Conversations with Today’s Top Comedy Writers." It’s a sequel of sorts to his last book, "And Here’s the Kicker: Conversations with 21 Humor Writers About Their Craft."

From 2014: Hundreds of novelists have paraded through this show during the last eight years to promote their works of fiction. And many of them were first-timers. But Tony Doris is the only one I personally nudged to pull his first novel out of a dusty desk drawer and publish it.
