Mr. Moffatt

In the heart of suburban Sydney, Australia, Mr. Moffatt runs a quaint chemists business where he lives with his wife, Florence, and their adult daughter, Naomi. The story ignites with a mysterious painting that Mr. Moffatt accepted as collateral for a debt, which he suspects might be an undiscovered old master. Driven by curiosity, he journeys to England for an appraisal, only to return home to a life irrevocably altered, challenging his deepest beliefs. Once published in England and now largely overlooked, Mr. Moffatt stands as Australias first modernist novel, celebrated for its psychological depth and Cobbs masterful use of stream-of-consciousness narrative.
