We started out our journey on YouTube a few months ago to achieve a few things... The first thing was to try and get the CORRECT information out to the drone community and to try and create a repository of FREE, helpful information which Drone Pilots & Business Owners could go to if they wanted to learn how to build and grow a successful drone business.

One of the other reasons we started the channel was to prove a concept that we had of GROWTH HACKING in the digital landscape, using YouTube as our platform of choice and video as our content delivery media.

We NEVER thought we'd get 500 followers, let alone, surpass 1500, just 2 months after we started pushing out content every working day!

So, thank you all for helping us achieve that - and for all the comments you leave when we produce content that you find useful...

BUT, there are a few messages and amazing learning points, which have come from the work over the past few months on the channel, which ALL BUSINESS OWNERS SHOULD BE AWARE OF - particularly in the drone industry!

REMEMBER: If you're trying to start a YouTube channel in order to help you build a subscriber base and market your business; then the best thing to do is to start... Yesterday! If that idea fills you with dread; then fear not - we were the same in the beginning and our videos we're pretty S**T... But, we created our first 100 videos as quickly as we could - learnt a LOT along the way as a result of forcing ourselves to get it done AND the beauty of this? No-one was watching the S**T videos we made in the early days, because we didn't have an audience...

So, what are you waiting for? Get started today and start talking... To no-one, because no-one is watching... YET! ;)

We see lots of drone showreels which just aren't that well thought out and either don't showcase people's skills OR tell any kind of story... So, what are the secrets to making a kick-ass drone showreel to showcase your skills and what you and your company can deliver to people WHEN they decide to work with you?

Knowing your craft and building your capabilities and abilities as a drone pilot as REALLY Important... That goes without saying. BUT, you also need to start to understand the importance of getting good training, finding a drone training company (CAA NQE in the UK) who'll not just take your money and get you a PfCO certificate (drone license) but will also HELP YOU LEARN, BUILD and GROW as an operator and a business.

Before you hand over your money, look at WHO you're investing with (yes, you need to think of this training as an investment) and what social proof they have. What are other people saying about them and how have those people found their journey to PfCO and beyond?

You can then carry this learning forward as you build your drone business... Get out there and get yourself some social proof, so you can have the best shot of selling yourself to clients AND stand out from the crowd!

Big changes coming to the channel over the next few days - all will be revealed very soon but there's a couple of preemptive bits that we wanted to get out to you all ASAP.

We know that some of the changes (regarding the schedule in particular), may be disappointing to some of you in the short term; and we're sincerely sorry about that... BUT, it's all for the best and it'll allow us to increase the production value and bring you EVEN better content! :) This also means that the Podcast will be slightly less regular too.

Thanks to all of those of you who have been part of the journey so far; it's been an amazing (rollercoaster) experience - and the best is yet to come! :)

We've taken the data from everyone who's attended our ICARUS Permission for Commercial Operation ( PfCO ) course over the last 18 months, combined that with our industry knowledge and are bringing you the top 6 ideas for starting a drone business!

First of all - it's worth prefacing this entire blog with the fact that adding a drone into an existing business is going to be the best thing to do. If you want to get a drone, get a 'drone licence', set-up a website and expect the business to start rolling in... I'd honestly say forget it. The market is full of people trying to do this at the moment... So, it's a case of either adding it in to your current offering, working out how you can solve a problem for someone by using a drone OR, if you're lucky enough to have some contacts in an industry who are using (or looking to use) drones - then leverage that to the MAX!

It's been a time old problem... How do we tell people where we are, where to meet us, where to park and where we're going to fly from with our drone?!?
