  • EPISODE 3 - The Spark That Lit the Fire — Spring and Summer of 66 AD

In the spring of 66 AD, in the port city of Caesarea, a Greek man walked up to the entrance of the local synagogue with an upside-down chamber pot. He set it down in front of the door. On top of it, he sacrificed several birds.

    It was the Sabbath.

That single act of deliberate desecration — combined with a Roman procurator too corrupt to intervene, a Temple treasury raided in broad daylight, and a comedian's joke about "poor Florus" that led to three thousand six hundred dead in the streets of Jerusalem — lit the fuse on the war that would end the Second Temple.

Episode 3 walks through the spring and summer of 66 AD — from the Caesarea synagogue desecration to the humiliating defeat of a Roman legion in a narrow pass called Beth-Horon.

    In this episode:
    - Cold open — The Caesarea synagogue desecration (Josephus, Jewish War Book 2, Chapter 14)
    - Gessius Florus — the Roman procurator Josephus calls the worst of a bad field
    - The seventeen talents raided from the Temple treasury, and the beggar's-plate mockery that turned a bad situation into a massacre
    - The Upper Market massacre — three thousand six hundred dead, crucifixions of Roman-citizen Jews, and Berenice's barefoot Nazarite vow
    - Nationwide chaos — the mutual massacres in Scythopolis and Damascus
    - King Agrippa the Second's great speech from the balcony — the last plea for peace, ignored
    - Eleazar son of Ananias, the young priest who ended the daily sacrifice for Caesar and formally began the war
    - The quiet exodus of the Christian community from Jerusalem to Pella — the only people in the story who, having heard Christ's warnings on the Mount of Olives, chose to leave
    - Cestius Gallus, the Twelfth Legion, and the march on Jerusalem in November 66
    - The inexplicable Roman withdrawal — and the catastrophic ambush at the Beth-Horon pass, where the same terrain that once delivered Joshua's victory delivered Rome one of its worst humiliations
    - The lost legionary eagle — and the celebration that would seed the disaster of the next four years
    - The modern parallels — Israeli political and religious fracture, Iranian and Hezbollah pressure, the Temple Institute's ongoing preparations, and the pattern Josephus already named

  • EPISODE 2 - From Pompey to Prophets — Fractured Faith, False Messiahs, and Foreshadowed Flames

In 63 BC, a Roman general named Pompey walked into the Holy of Holies — the most sacred room in the Jewish world. He didn't loot. He didn't desecrate the altar. But the door had been opened. The fence around the Holy of Holies had been kicked over. Jewish independence was finished.

Episode 2 walks the long road from that moment to the world Jesus was born into. From Pompey in 63 BC to the Roman procurators of the first century, the five Jewish factions that would tear the country apart, the false messiahs Jesus warned us about, the historian who described John the Baptist in his own words — and the modern-day movements that have inherited every faction's energy and are running it back, this time in our newsfeeds.

    In this episode:
    - Cold open — Pompey enters the Holy of Holies (Josephus, Antiquities 14.4)
    - The Hasmonean civil war that opened the door to Rome
    - The five Roman procurators who matter for this series — Pilate, Felix, Festus, Albinus, Florus
    - The death of James the brother of Jesus (Josephus, Antiquities 20.9.1) — and the Sadducee high priest who killed him in a three-week gap in Roman oversight
    - The five Jewish factions — Pharisees, Sadducees, Essenes, Zealots, Sicarii — and the descendants of each you'll recognise in 2026
    - Josephus on John the Baptist (Antiquities 18.5.2) — the wise teacher of virtue Herod feared
    - The Testimonium Flavianum (Antiquities 18.3.3) — Josephus on Jesus himself, in both the medieval and Arabic versions
    - Theudas (around 44 AD) and the Egyptian (around 56 AD) — two false prophets Josephus catalogued, both also named in Acts (Acts 5:36, Acts 21:38)
    - The 2025 #RaptureTok episode — the Joshua Mhlakela September 23-24 prediction, and the unbroken line that runs back through William Miller, Edgar Whisenant, Harold Camping
    - The Third Temple movement today — the Temple Institute, the red heifers from Texas, the priestly garments, the altar
    - How Theodor Herzl (1860-1904) and C.I. Scofield (1843-1921) — a secular Jewish journalist and an American minister — built, without ever meeting, the alliance that shaped twentieth-century geopolitics
    - The 9th of Av — same date, Babylon and Rome, six hundred and fifty-six years apart

  • EPISODE 1 — The Man Who Walked Out of a Burning Jerusalem

One man walked out of a burning Jerusalem alive. A million others didn't.

In the autumn of 70 AD, the Romans destroyed the Second Temple and burned the holy city to the ground. Only one eyewitness account of that fall survives. It was written by a Jewish priest from Jerusalem who, somehow, ended up sitting inside the Roman general's tent — taking notes while his city burned. His name was Josephus.

This is Episode 1 of The Fall of Jerusalem: Josephus and the End of the World — the first season of Mrs O Investigates. We begin where every honest investigation has to: with the man himself.

    In this episode:
    - The cold open — Josephus's own account of the Temple's destruction, read from Jewish War Book 6
    - The Hasmonean priestly family Josephus was born into in 37 AD
    - His teenage spiritual boot camp through the Pharisees, Sadducees, and Essenes
    - Three years in the Judean wilderness with a hermit named Banus
    - The death of James, the brother of Jesus, at the hands of a Sadducee high priest — recorded by Josephus himself in 62 AD
    - His voyage to Rome in 63 AD, his shipwreck, and his audience with Emperor Nero's wife
    - Why this two-thousand-year-old story is reading like today's headlines — Temple Institute preparations, red heifers from Texas, Iran-Israel tensions, and the KJV prophecies that assume a functioning Temple

Primary sources: Josephus, The Jewish War (Whiston translation); Josephus, The Life of Josephus; Josephus, Antiquities of the Jews Book 20; Acts 24 KJV; Matthew 22 KJV; Matthew 24 KJV; Tacitus, Annals Book 15.

  • Trailer — The Fall of Jerusalem: Josephus and the End of the World

In 70 AD, the holy city of the ancient world burned to the ground. The Second Temple — the beating heart of Judaism — was reduced to rubble. A million people died in one of the bloodiest sieges in history.

And from the ashes, one man emerged with a quill in his hand.

His name was Josephus. He is about to tell you what happened.

Welcome to The Fall of Jerusalem: Josephus and the End of the World — the first season of Mrs O Investigates. Ten episodes. The only surviving eyewitness account of the greatest downfall in antiquity, walked through chapter by chapter — and held up against the uncanny parallels unfolding today. Red heifers were flown in from Texas and ritually sacrificed. Temple Mount tensions. The Iran–Israel war. The pieces of a story Josephus already wrote down once, quietly being assembled again in our lifetime.

History doesn't repeat. But it knows how to rhyme.
