January is a tricky time of year and we feel like we need to be functioning at a very high level after such a lovely holiday. However, it can actually be the complete opposite. Christmas and New Year are exhausting and we're always not quite ready to get back into the swing of things again! It can be really difficult to reestablish those healthy habits. In this first episode of Season 2, I wanted to help you do a little assessment of where you're currently at with your health and MS. Then I'd like to help you to visualise where you'd like to be and feel like this year. I take you through six practical steps to getting back on the bandwagon and feeling great again! You can do this!
In this podcast I interview Psychologist Rachael Hunter. Rachael has had MS for seven years and after a difficult start, started following the OMS protocol. She is able to live a completely normal, healthy life and is very involved in spreading the word that managing MS holistically is possible. In this podcast, Rachel shares her wisdom on mental health, her own struggles and provides some brilliant practical advice on how to stay mentally healthy. Stress can have a big impact on the progression of MS and our daily quality of life and it's vital that we find ways to effectively manage it. I hope you enjoy this interview as much as I did!
Christmas is such a wonderful time of year and we want to be feeling our strongest and most energetic! However, we are tempted to indulge in rich, sugar-laden food which will leave us feeling exhausted and unhappy. There is a better way and so many wonderful alternatives that we can eat. Being mindful of what you prepare and eat will help a huge amount. In this podcast I give you four practical tips on how to live mindfully over this very busy, often fraught time. I also give you a few meal ideas and tell you what I'll be eating this Christmas. I'll be keeping it simple and clean but delicious. Enjoy!
In our busy lives, it's often difficult to find time to do the things we REALLY want to do - things that feed and nurture our souls and increase our happiness levels! Our time is finite and so we need to use the few minutes that we do have every day to rest or do something that we really enjoy. In this podcast, I chat a bit about how these things evoke the relaxation response (RR) which is the opposite process to the stress response. The RR is a state in which our bodies can heal whereas when we are succumbing to stress, this will have a detrimental effect on our health. So, decide what nurtures your soul and then just make time for it! Even if it's just for 5 minus a day. Enjoy guys!
Supplements are a whole new world that can be a little daunting and overwhelming to venture into! However, the right ones are a vital part of your MS management and can really make a difference to how you feel on a daily basis. In this episode I go into detail on the six core supplements that I take every day and then discuss how to go about choosing supplements that are actually going to help your body heal. I do hope that you enjoy!
In this episode I had the absolute joy of interviewing Simone, the founder of the popular blog, Staying Healthy with MS. Simone has an inspiring story of recovery but she had to go through absolute hell to get there! In this episode, she shares her difficult journey to recovery and how she found the OMS way of eating and never looked back! She also uses a few really cool alternative therapies such as heavy metal detox spray and infrared saunas to get rid of toxins and reduce inflammation in her body. I'm so happy to be sharing this with you today. Simone is just so inspiring!
Simone's detox spray is called Advanced TRS by Coseva. I'm definitely going to try this!
Intermittent fasting is possibly the most important change that I have made with my MS diet. Allowing my body to take a break from digestion for an extended period of time (14-16 hours) has done wonders for my quality of sleep, energy levels, clarity of mind and symptom stabilisation. In this podcast, I share my story and the reasons behind why intermittent fasting is so beneficial for you. Enjoy!
