MTG Grindcast

It's time to check in on modern! How are we doing without everyone's favorite cat nightmare? Was Death's Shadow perhaps too strong given that it still won the ptq after having its best card banned? Who can know!

The Neon Dynasty set championship is coming up, so we grabbed our friend IAmActuallyLvl1 to tell us everything he knows about Alchemy and Historic. Which is, admittedly, maybe not as much as he'd like to. But we also talk about transitioning to tournament prep on Arena, spend some time praising the Zoomers, and generally get hype for this weekend.

Somehow we've never had Dom as a guest before, but he's here to talk with us for two hours about the present and future of competitive MtG content and coverage. We work though some tough truths and also engage in an inappropriate amount of gallows humor.

Week one of new standard and we've got a little bit of everything peeking its head out, from old favorites like Izzet and sacrifice, to brand new enchantment theme decks and *gasp* two-color aggro. We break down this weekend's results and work through all the neat decks and developments.

The future is here! And in our dystopian timeline it's basically impossible to get decklists, so we've been in the trenches of watchin' streams to bring you all the NEW CARDS seeing play in various constructed formats. Are red cards back in standard? Is an Expressive Iteration deck...still really good? We don't really know! But we're doing our best.

It's time for top 5s! How many do-nothing little artifacts and enchantments can we fit on our lists? A whole hell of a lot! Get our takes while they're hot, and before they're proven wrong!

Preview season is here! We're going over new planeswalkers, rat ninjas, hoverbikes and more in Magic's cyberpunk set. Do we know what formats we're evaluating the cards for? No! Do we let that stop us? Also no!

Full disclosure: we don't really talk all that much about Ragavan himself. But we spend plenty of time on the Standard bans, goofy Alchemy buffs, and the Modern no-bans, so there's lots of fun to be had!

This week! We've brought in known Hammertime aficionado Will Krueger, aka Xwhale, to break down the deck and its place in the metagame. We talk about its matchups, different builds and card choices, and how to play with or against it. BONK

As the first episode in our Dexperts (Deckmasters? we're still workshopping the name) series, we pulled some strings and grabbed Connor Mullaly to break down the ins and outs of Pioneer Lotus Field, a powerful combo deck for magic's most recently un-abandoned format.
