DougYNerd joins the podcast to discuss how EDHRec can be used both as a tool and as a guide depending on what players are looking to build. We then discuss how we have actively avoided EDHRec recommendations for some of our personal builds because we want to explore unique themes that are not supported in the deck database tool. Examples include my 5-Color "Colorless" Najeela build as well as Doug's Pegasus-tribal build around Sephara.

MonoWhiteBorder joins the show (while driving) to discuss the huge reception which Priest of Ancient Lore received for the new AFR set and how Wall of Omens should see more play in the same role. We ponder about the direction White is going in for card draw and if we will see more cards like this in the future.

It's spoiler season, so that means that we're back to have the first word on the new Innistrad sets coming out! Listen to Ryan and I speculate on what we believe this 2-part set/block to be about as well as some things we'd like to see in the new sets. Guaranteed to not blow up in our faces this time, I promise! (lol)

On today's episode, Andy from the Guardian Project Podcast drops by to discuss running an MTG podcast as well as how to tackle Content Creator Burnout. A lot of creators have broached this topic as of late given the never-ending spoiler season for new sets as well as keeping a schedule to record podcast episodes, and we cover our experiences in this arena. We also have a discussion about other EDH topics and how our podcasts have evolved over time.

Happy One Year Podcast-eversary for the MTG IN Quarantine podcast! I celebrate the one-year mark of making MTG content by reviewing the highs and lows of the past year of content creation and thanking everyone who has guested on the show and inspired me to be a better Magic player and creator! I hope that this is just the beginning for the podcast and that greater things will come with time.

On this episode of the Lightning Build series, Chris the Commander Mechanic returns to the show to build mono-red artifacts with Kurkesh, Onnake Ancient! Kurkesh allows you to copy the activated abilities (non-mana) of artifacts for a single red mana, so Chris walks us through his process for building a deck as well as outlining some of the ways this deck can win.

On this episode of the podcast, I discuss my use of a Play Log to record the results of each game of EDH that I have played in 2021. The Log is not only a way for me to see how well my decks have done across all games, but also can be used to identify decks that have become too powerful for my playgroup and thus see less use there. While this does not replace Rule 0, it does prove an interesting test in determining the true "power level" of my deck in comparison to the decks my opponents use.
Chad of Signature SpellBomb joins the show to talk about Oathbreaker, a 60-card singleton format where Planeswalkers are Commanders and each player has a Signature Spell available to them it's own special zone! We discuss the concept of the format as well as some of the misconceptions about the format. Lots of EDH parallels are included.

Unloved Commanders unite! Commander content creator MagicalHacker joins the podcast to discuss his interest in building EDH decks with Commanders who most players overlook for one reason or another. He has compiled a list of all Commanders on EDHRec with less than 50 decks to their name, and has collected almost 50 decklists from various players using those Commanders. We discuss why we both enjoy building Commanders from this list and why players overlook these cards (flavor, not using all relevant text on a card, mana cost, etc.). We also seek to challenge why people overlook these Commanders and hope that we inspire others to build around these unloved Commanders.

On this episode of White in MTG is GOOD, Actually, guest collaborators CoachJRo, MonoWhiteBorder, and I identify 5 "staple" cards in Mono-White that are very expensive and suggest budget alternatives for those looking for a similar effect at a fraction of the cost. We also identify cards with similar effects that go in different directions should you want to look at a series of cards instead of a 1-for-1 replacement.
And remember, foreign language versions of cards DO exist and can bring down the costs of some of these cards. As always, try to buy them from your LGS.
