In 2015 Cam Newton was the most beloved player in all of Carolina. Every Panthers fan was dabbing, excited, and were waiting in the end zone for their Superman to give them another touchdown ball. For years, Cam Newton was the face of the Panther's franchise and a man of the people. Cam Newton was more than a quarterback, he was a sports icon in Charlotte. He gave selflessly to the community, donated to young athletes, and public and privately gave to the homeless of the city.  Newton was generous off the field and extremely dominant on the field. He won the league MVP, and led the Panthers to their first Super Bowl since Super Bowl 38. After a disappointing loss in the Super Bowl to a dominant Von Miller led Denver Broncos team, Cam Newton's career has been on the opposite side of the mountain's peak in Carolina. A few major lingering injuries, and an inability to recapture his 2015 MVP form, made the Panthers look to move on from their enigmatic quarterback. This off-season the Panthers hired former LSU passing game coordinator, Joe Brady, as their offensive coordinator. They followed that move by signing former Saints backup quarterback Teddy Bridgewater.  These moves signaled the end of Cam Newton's time with the Panthers. Now a free agent, many questions abound about the former NFL MVP. Which team will he sign with this season? How healthy is he going into the year?  Will he be a good fit with a coach like Bill Belichick? We spoke with Alaina Gatzenberg of the Charlotte Observer to talk about the future of Cam Newton, the impact of his loss on the city of Charlotte, and the future of the Carolina Panthers.
