In January of 2018, the sports and basketball world were introduced to Grambling State University star point-guard Shakyla Hill, as she become the first woman to record a quadruple double since Soja Tate did it in 1993. The only man in the NCAA to record one was Lester Martin , of UT-Martin, in 2007. In February of 2019 she became the first player in NCAA history to record two, with 21 points, 16 rebounds, 13 assists, and 10 steals in a SWAC win against Arkansas-Pine Bluff. After these phenomenal accomplishments, thought they were heavily covered by media outlets including ESPN, Hill went undrafted and unsigned by the WNBA. She decided to continue her basketball journey in Serbia, recording her third quadruple-double , and winning a regional championship for ZZK Kraljevo . We spoke to Ms. Hill about her experience playing in Serbia, the WNBA and its attitude towards HBCU athletes, and her connection to her beloved Alma Mater.
