Shortcuts: Short Takes on Vermont Research.
Until the early 90's, Vermont was the only state to not have a Walmart, giving itself the nickname, "The Endangered State". In 1995, Vermont opened its first Walmart in Bennington and plans for more stores were underway. Producer Leah Kelleher sits with Paul Bruhn, President of the Preservation Trust of Vermont and Emily Wadhams, former Vice President for Public Policy at the National Trust for Historic Preservation as they tell the story of Vermont's battle with Walmart.
