As Derek finishes the book of 1 Peter we see the depths of our security based completely in the Jesus and not in ourselves.

Peter describes the devil as a lion on the prowl looking for someone to devour.  In what ways does the devil attempt to assert his power over people, and what do Christians have which gives us the ability to resist him?

Derek was guest speaking at the Chinchilla Church of Christ and he spoke about human fatherhood and the God the One True Father.  It brings us great fulfilment and rest as we know that God is our Father and that being reconciled to Him through Jesus changes our whole lives.

When we look at the nature of Jesus the Good Shepherd we get a wonderful insight into the way God loves and cares for us.  This helps us to understand our role as "under-shepherds" in his church.

Persecution causes great suffering for the Christian, but Peter describes this suffering as bringing joy, blessing, glory to God, the Holy Spirit to rest on us, (good) judgment, and faith.

Peter tells his readers to love each other deeply.  But what is true love and how does it work out in the church?  Peter tells us that central to love is God's grace, speaking the word of God, and serving one another with God's strength.  How good is the church when we walk in this in the power of the Holy Spirit!

Becky Wilson gets interviewed at the South-West Queensland Christian Convention.  She speaks about her conversion and also her passion for hospitality and sharing the Gospel.

The church is the precious bride and Christ.  He gave his life for her to present her as a spotless and perfect bride.  Peter describes how the church is to love each other and show hospitality.  As it does this it lives as God Himself is!

Derek speaks about the way that God uses hardships to bring a change in the desires of the Christian, to change their actions, to prepare us for judgement day, and to bring final judgement on us.  God uses suffering to bring the Christian a Complete New Life.

Derek unpacks this difficult passage about the spirits in prison being judged by Jesus.  The cross and resurrection meant Jesus was confirmed as King over all, and thus He alone has the authority to pronounce judgement, bring salvation and cleanse the consciences of sinful humanity.
