Murder on SermonAudio

Why does God stop and reason with a man whose offering He has just refused, and comfort him besides, before ever a hand is raised? Read the two questions the LORD puts to Cain in verse 6 and ask whether God asks because He does not know. Sin does not come upon a man in one fell swoop; it lays down at his door and waits there to grow and to have offspring of itself in his life, so ask what Cain did with the mercy he was handed. If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door.

The sermon examines John 8:44 to identify the devil as the father of lies and a murderer from the beginning, contrasting him with Jesus Christ as the source of truth and life. It traces the origin of all falsehood back to Satan's deception in Eden and his ongoing efforts to blind humanity and distort Scripture. The preacher outlines five specific tactics used by the adversary: denying, twisting, stealing, misdirecting, and deceiving through religious imitation. By analyzing the rejection of Jesus by religious leaders, the message warns believers to discern between spiritual truth and demonic falsehood. Ultimately, it calls listeners to examine their spiritual lineage and embrace the saving truth found only in Christ.
