Mack Ray Edwards used his job as a heavy equipment operator for the California Department of Transportation to his advantage, often burying his victims at job sites along the Ventura Freeway. Some of his victims lived close to his home, including his wife's sister.

Colin Ireland from England spent his life being a nobody. He was unsuccessful in his jobs and marriages. His life was full of prison time, poverty and homelessness.

On New Years Eve, 1993, Ireland made a decision to be a somebody, to be important and to be famous. He made the choice to become a serial killer. He targeted gay men and killed 5 men over four months.
