2012 closes and 2013 opens with the world in terror and turmoil. Debate rages among politicians and experts on how to get the world out of this mess. A lot of us have faced disappointment, tragedy, and loss that we can't really understand. Often we find ourselves angry and apathetic towards God and others as a result. It's amazing, though, how little time there is to be angry or apathetic when we realize what God has done for us and how He desires you to be a part of his enormous plan of reconciliation. Thanksgiving is here: soon the air will be filled with the smells of turkey and dressing, living rooms will be full of football watchers, and kool-aid spill will be pouring over the "kid's table." But in all the activity of Thanksgiving, will there truly be any thanks given? Often, we celebrate the blessings of God without ever worshiping the God who blessed. It's an election week, and if you read the news there are a lot of opinions. Some polls say Romney is up big, some say Obama is up big, but the facts are only one will win. As Americans head to the polls, we do so in hopes of a better future for our families and our communities. As Christians we are called to be salt; it is good to stand for truth and lift up your voice for righteousness.
