Guest: Bishop Meshack Tebe - The Secretary General of All African Alliance Movement (AAAM)
All African Alliance Movement launched yesterday.
According to the party, three years ago, a group of concerned church leaders, traditional leaders, technocrats and civic organizations met to deliberate on the moral decay that had surfaced in both our political and religious spheres, and the on-going societal challenges faced by South Africa. The formation of the multi-organizational alliance is in response to the people’s dissatisfaction and increased disillusionment with the current government, born out of frustration with
corruption, lack of accountability and leadership, the collapse of the education system and unabated levels of crime, and the many societal ills that besiege this country.
The party has put forward former chief Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng as its presidential candidate for the 2024 elections, saying it's responding to what it sees as a decay in the system.
“The movement, they say, is united by a common cause of fighting inequality, addressing the imbalances in our judiciary, promoting peace, and social and economic justice. The movement is inspired by our unifying love of our country while giving voice to African independent churches, African indigenous spiritual structures, and civic organizations.” Talking Points: -Would you call yourself a Christian based Political party? -South Africa has a majority Christian society, why do you think many of those who ARE Christians have not backed a Christian based political party ACDP, and how do you think you will compare?
-We have moved into times where the majority party system doesn’t seem to be working, and more of a coalition system, might AAAM be willing to be part of a coalitions? -If so, which parties would you be willing to be in coalition with, and which wouldn’t you want to be in coalition with?
