Sister Funk are they funk? Nope! What are they? They are a rock-country, folk-pop band based out of New Haven, CT who has been sharing national stages with acts like: Mellissa Etheridge, B52s, Foreigner, ZZ Top for close to 20 years.
Did you say 20 years? Yes this group has been to therapy and back to keep their high energy show going all these years.
2022 brings their 6th full-length independent CD release to the masses. Tracks off this new CD Wings To Fly are eclectic, more raw then their pervious releases and include some solid country-rock tunes such as Ride With Me & Life On The Road and some funky-blues-rock tunes like Want What I Want and It Ain't You. There are some surprise genres on this compilation such as Frostbite (rock-metal) and One Small Step (electra-pop).
Sister Funk has been nominated for many awards and titles: Best Rock band- Advocate, Best Rock Song- New England Music and has had their song Gone featured on Sirius Out Q as #1 for 15 consecutive weeks. Sister Funk performances are known for being unpredictable, playing multiple instruments and performing medleys of their favorite cover songs with their own creative interpretation. Don't be fooled by the name this dynamic band has something for everyone.

New Orleans native Renard Boissiere (Nardy) breaks all boundaries whether he hits the stage with his eclectic, electric band, Nardy Boy, or as an acoustic act trotting out the live acoustic vibe. Always doing it right with a mix of music both old, new and original too, the songs reflect his love for good music regardless the singer, songwriter or sensibility. It could be a jazzed-up take on a country favorite, or a bossa'd-up rendition of a reggae classic, there’s more than a few surprises up his sleeve.
Renard has performed live with the Neville Brothers and Delfeayo Marsalis, recorded with Rock-n-Roll Hall of Famers Tina Weymouth and Chris Frantz of the Talking Heads, recorded and performed with Mystic Bowie and his Talking Dreads project, and opened for acts as varied as Odetta, the TomTom Club, Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Porter, Batiste & Stolz (PBS), and the Psychedelic Furs.

Keyboardist and Composer Jim Couchenour (Coke -in-hour) officially integrated SounDoctrine in more ways than three! His melodic refinement striding along our all out funk fusion provided the perfect contrast. He also earned the title of "Band Balladeer" by crafting some of the most enduring tunes we've experienced since our inception. His incredible compositions, "Sacrifice," "Smallmouth Bass" and "Boys in The Wood" (Endurance) all entered National Airplay on The Weather Channel during the same quarter and to date, Jim now has a total of nine tunes in rotation on that channel.
His debut CD, Living Colour was released to rave reviews back in 2007. He has followed up with establishing a musical brand entitled "Quiet Canvas." Jim has also established himself as a very transparent actor, having recently beared his soul in a One Man Show about his battle of overcoming the stygma of Tourette's Syndrome. The paly "Me & Myself" opened to stellar reviews. His comical genius has continued to emerge as Jim has helped establish a comedy troupe in Columbiana Ohio called "Main Street Madness"
