today I have an amazing guest with me that's not only a musician but a sound healer as well. Jacob Pasterfield shared some juicy secrets about how music affects our bodies and why. He showed me simple tricks on how to deal with stress and focus my attention within a few minutes! Sounds crazy right? Jacob also says that most of us already use sound healing without us even knowing it by putting together playlists.

Lauren Haber is an opera singer and definitely knows a thing or two about vocals, health, and how to take care of them. She also busted some myths about "can you make yourself have a good singing voice?", "is singing a talent or a skill?" or "can a terrible singer become good?" and much more. 

Lauren also explained how important breath is and that technique is what you use when you take the wrong breath. She took a deep dive into belief and how it influences you as a singer.

Hi Ohana, 

today I have singer/songwriter, producer, body percussionist, wife, and mother DEVADO with me. Like me, she's half German/American and has been doing music since she's been a kid. Devado has worked for Disney to play & sing the german characters from the Lion King all the way up to Moana. She's also been on the Voice of Germany in 2015 and has given advice on what those shows are all about and what to look out for when you audition for any TV show. Now Devado has been quite successful getting into production to be able to produce her own songs. But we're not talking about normal production. Devaco has a very unique way of doing that. Her new single "Never Gonna Fit In" is produced with NO INSTRUMENTS!!! It's all body percussion and vocals.  

Devado shared a lot of juicy secrets about the music industry and why she thinks it's better to be an independent musician.

Hi Ohana, 

today I have the one and only singer/songwriter, producer, and entrepreneur Ashton Nicolas from Oahu, Hawaii with me today! He owns his own company "Creative Natives" to help and support other artists as well with what he got to learn so far in his music business degree. We had a chat about how important networking is and making sure you're spending your time wisely. That going to another country was one of the best decisions he's ever made because he was able to learn and grow as a person. What you listen to, read, watch and surround yourself with will determine who you will become. Ashton said that making "wrong" decisions helps him make the right ones today.  

With his new single "Find Me" it's all about good vibes. Ashton took me behind the scenes of his single and gave away his secret of what a good song makes for him.

today I have the singer/songwriter Annemarie Quinn with me today. She's from the UK but has been living in Malawi, Africa for the last 5 years where she recorded her album "Blue Sky Thinking". With over 40 collaborations with different musicians, Annemarie made it her mission to involve and include as many locals as possible. Annemarie talked about how important collaboration is and that is actually is a sign of strength. She also mentioned how everything is hard work, that nothing just falls into your lap, "You get out what you put in". The hardest thing about recording an album is capturing the energy of the musicians and the song.

today I have Australian singer/songwriter Ben Camden with me. He told me how he wrote his single "Salt" by testing it on crows while busking and what benefits came from it. He said that he never regrets busking because he always learns something very valuable from that you can't learn any other way.

today I have singer/songwriter Reece Ratliff with me today. He took me behind the scenes of his new album "Compass" and showed me what hard work goes into a 12 track album. We all consume music, but do we really know what hard work goes into it? Reece explained the meaning behind his song "DRIVE". That we should enjoy the journey while we can and take controller over our life and especially music carrier. He said the most important thing that his grandfather taught him was humility "You don't write the songs, you just write them down."

Hi Ohana,  

today I have singer/songwriter and producer Elise Cabret with me today. She's officially my first guest from Australia. Elise shared the very personal story of her struggles with anxiety and depression and how music had a huge role in her healing process. This is why she is so passionate about her new project DAWter where she gets to help others that are struggling to express their feelings and cope with them. We also had a chat about how everything is a process, you don't suddenly wake up a rockstar, you become one! You need to grow into it. Elise said that songwriting is more a mental mindset rather than a skill problem. Before we even start the song we tell ourselves that it's not good enough. She talked about a little trick that she uses, called "the artist and the editor" to overcome self-doubt and writer's block. Seriously there are so many value bombs in here, I'm just scratching the surface.
