We had a chat about what a box of rollies are (it's not Irish kindy, I had to learn the hard way LOL), how he writes songs, and who helped him produce his amazing songs "In Wating" and "I Want". As a songwriter, you need to learn how to "detach" yourself from your songs in order to put out good music. We talked about the struggles of being a songwriter and how to overcome them. That musicians aren't as confident as they seem.

He shared his secret of how he made his own mic out of his 20-year-old computer mic, a Pringles box, and some tights because he had no money when he first started out. We had a chat about the constant struggle of self-doubt and how music is healing people one song at a time! How amazing is that? Urban Hippie told me how being humble and having the mindset of being able to learn from EVERYONE is essential to stay focused and grounded. That using people to where you want to go is never a good idea.

Hi Ohana, 

today I have the singer/songwriter & producer Garreth Spinn (g.spinn) with me today.  

He told me his story of his best trade ever which involves Harry Potter books and his sister. Why he started producing after he's been writing songs for a while and how important networking is.  

We had a chat about actually wanting to be the worst musician in the room and what makes a good song.  Garreth shared with me the number one thing he starts with now when he produces or mixes a song now which might go against most production "tricks", but most importantly we talked about writing about lyrics you're nervous to share and why that's important. In the end, we also talked about how ambient music is used in commercial music without us even noticing and how that can help you in your next songs to level up your songwriting game.

Hi Ohana,  

today I have Aurelien from 3 South & Banana with me today. We had a great chat about how judgment is holding you back as a songwriter and how to free yourself from that. We talked about how your restraints (not the right equipment, not enough money, no production skills ...) are actually your superpowers! That necessity is the mother of invention!  

We had an interesting conversation about what creativity really is and how to free and access it. Basically finding the balance between the art and science behind songwriting.  Of course, we got talking about his album "3 South & Banana" and the writing process behind it. The best part is that Aurelien showed me his live set up when he gets to perform and it blew my mind! I've seen many concerts but this is something I've never seen before!
